Greetings, and Welcome to the COLORADO INDEPENDENT FILM PRODUCERS group.
This site is designed to be a forum for both experienced and up-and-coming indie film producers. We strive for a free and honest exchange of ideas regarding the financial, logistical, business and legal aspects of filmmaking.
Debate is part of the process, and sharing the differences in our experience is our strength, but there are a few ground rules.
1) No politics or religion. Naturally we aren't saying you can't discuss the distribution strategy of The Passion, but the focus is on how to get movies made and distributed, not whether you personally believe what's in them.
2) Don't make it personal. Sometimes we have to disagree, and those disagreements can be strong. But it is counterproductive to take swipes at each other.
3) Let's try to stay focused. There are lots of good sites that discuss writing, acting, audio, production design, cinematography, etc. Those conversations are welcome here, as long as they are in the context of producing.
4) Full Disclosure. First, let us know who you are. If your MSN name is other than your real name, please sign your posts. If you are talking about a project you have an interest in, reveal that. If you are sharing information, cite the source. I'm sure you get the idea. Credibility is key.
Violations will result in a polite warning. Ignoring the warnings will result in being banned
Colorado is a great place to live and film. There are a lot of very talented people out there. But most of what gets made here lacks both a strong vision for commercial viability, and the experience to follow through. Our goal is to use our combined experiences to raise the bar, and make a living producing and selling films.
