An earth sign, Capricorn produces the densest point of concrete materialization the human soul is capable of. It is the crystallization of this materialism that eventually reaches a "hardness" that shatters and is destroyed. Because of this fundamentally materialistic nature, the Capricornian eventually brings about their own destruction—at least of the material life—and awakens to the higher frequency of spirit and the nonform. Initiation is the result of this process, and the goat on the mountaintop represents this. Aquarius Aquarius is intricately linked to its position on the Fixed Cross, the cross of discipleship, named esoterically the Cross of Transmutation. It is related to the process of desire becoming aspiration, and selfishness transforming into selflessness. A crisis of reorientation occurs on this cross of soul unfoldment wherein the great initiation dealing with the Christ consciousness occurs, held as the third initiation to the personality yet from the perspective of soul, as the first initiation. Pisces There is incredible beauty in the transformation of the disciple in Pisces. In this sign of duality, the perfect manifestation of the macrocosm and the microcosm, of God and humanity, is demonstrated. The fusion or blending of the soul and form produces the Incarnated Christ, the perfected individual soul, and the greater and the lesser polar opposites—the human being and God—are brought to their destined expression and manifestation in this sign. Aries Aries is called the Light of Life Itself. It is the "searchlight of the Logos, seeking that which can be used" for divine expression. The secret of Aries is the secret of beginnings, of cycles and of emerging opportunity. It is a sign of commencement. Taurus In the constellation Taurus we find the most materialistic impulses and desires ultimately transcend into the light of illumination and revelation. The enlightened mind is the gift aquired when one transforms desire into spiritual aspiration. In the early lives of Taurus expression, desire rules the thought life, coupled with the bold determination and strong will needed to acquire that which is desired. Gemini Gemini brings the process much closer to the physical plane of expression. Gemini creates the patterns which will emerge finally as visible forms. Gemini is the design-maker, the weaver of patterns of force and energy. It is the beginning of duality, of the separation in consciousness, of intercommunication between polarities. Gemini has been called The Way of Many Changes. Cancer In the constellation Cancer, we find a doorway into incarnation for souls to gain the experience needed for their evolution. All human lives begin here. Indeed, no soul escapes the need to incarnate. In Cancer one is bound to be limited within the form in order to learn from life’s experiences. Ultimately, we must come to the realization life is beyond the form experience—we do not belong in the spiritual sense to the form life and eventually we orient ourselves to the life of the spirit, the real everlasting life. Leo Leo has been identified with "The King" or life giver. The symbolism of the lion is that of the life-giving Father, the Spirit, and its nature is of the center or the heart, through which all energy flows, and the life-force emanates. Presently, Leo may be considered the most important fire sign of the Zodiac. From Leo comes solar fire, the fire we associate with soul consciousness, the fire of higher mind. The Sun is the ruler of Leo—exoterically, esoterically and hierarchically. Leo keynotes are individuality and true self-consciousness. Virgo Virgo is about allowing the soul to grow and emerge, finally giving birth to the Christ consciousness, or full soul awareness, in its polar opposite Pisces. Virgo symbolizes depths, darkness, quiet and warmth, symbolic of the womb and hence, associated with the "cave experience." Slow, gentle, and powerful crises and development occur here in the dark, ultimately leading to light. (The three earth signs all deal with light in some way. The light of knowledge found in Taurus gives way to the light of wisdom gained in Virgo, culminating in the light of initiation in Capricorn.) Libra Libra is the point of balance in the zodiac, the place where neither spirit nor matter dominates. For the disciple on the Way, it is the point of perfect equilibrium. The path the disciple treads in Libra is known as the Razor Edged path. In this sign can be demonstrated the art of spiritual compromise—willingness to yield on all non-essentials, all the while persuading and inspiring. Here we begin to understand the need for single steps along the path; serving wisely, offering just the correct amount of assistance. This develops a dynamic equilibrium in the life. Scorpio Scorpio is the time of year when autumn has reached its darkest, deepest dormancy. We journey to the underworld at this time. In this journey we face the demons of our dark inner world hidden within our psyches. From making the journey, staying with the quest of self-discovery and eventually, mastery, comes the transformational aspect of Scorpio. But first the depths of the murky, muddy waters must be fully explored and understood. Sagittarius As more lives are experienced on the great wheel of incarnation, Sagittarius becomes the sign of the one-pointed disciple. The life of fluid response to matter becomes a focussed response to spirit and preparation for initiation in Capricorn. The arrow of the mind is projected unerringly towards the goal. |
