Indo-Pak wrestling meet on March 26
| Mohali, March 24 The bonhomie between India and Pakistan continues and now it’s time for wrestlers of the two nations to wrestle with each other. An Indo-Pak wrestling championship will be held on March 26 at Singhpura village, near Kurali, 15 km from here. In the contest, eight and 12 bouts will be held for the international championship and national championship, respectively. All the bouts will be held on mat, set up on the ground of the local gurdwara. These bouts will be conducted under international rules.

IN 1952, when matman K.D. Jadhav, a Maharashtrian, won a bronze medal in the Helsinki Olympics, the entire Indian wrestling community was agog with jubilation, and rightly so. For more than three decades after that, no Indian sportsperson could win the world title in any sport discipline.

India outduels Canada to take three golds
<LOCATION>MANCHESTER </LOCATION><DATE>AUG. 4. </DATE>India pressed its credentials as a world wrestling power on Saturday, taking three of the four gold medals on offer after duels with Canada in each category final.
Krishan Kumar, India's 2001 world junior champ, showed he has what it takes at senior level with victory over the powerful Canadian Mikheil Japaridze in the upto 55 kilogram category. Shaun Williams of South Africa beat Nigeria's Jacob Isaac for bronze.
Ramesh Kumar, despite being partly hobbled by a leg injury, edged Canadian Neal Ewers in the 66-kilogram class 3-2. Nigeria claimed the bronze medal as Fred Jessey beat New Zealand's Ricardo Aryan. India's Palwinder Singh Cheema won the 120-kilogram event on technical superiority over Canadian Eric Kirschner. Australia's Mushtaq Rasem Abdullah captured bronze by overcoming Scotsman Douglas Thomson.
The results: Upto 55kg: Gold Final: Krishan Kumar (India) bt Mikheil Japaridze (Can). Bronze final: Shaun Williams (SA) bt Jacob Isaac (Nig).
