The Wrestling Competition for Women in the COMMONWEALTH was started in 1990's . The first -" Commonwealth Women's Wrestling Championships"- was held in -1993 - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - as part of "Commonwealth Wrestling Championships" - For past number of years "Women's Wrestling" in the COMMONWEALTH has grown at the tremendous rate, this is especially true in - Canada, India, Australia, Nigeria - For a number of years now- Canadian Wrestling Women - have been placing on the consistent basis at the World Championships. The Canadian Team is ranked in top - 3 in the World. Christine Nordhagen - of Calgary, Alberta, Canada is a - 6 time World Wrestling Champion. International Olympic Committee and FILA has approved 4 - weight categories ( 48kg, 55kg, 63kg, 72kg ) for Women's Wrestling in the 2004 -Athens Olympic Games. This will encourage more Commonwealth Nations to have a Women's Wrestling Program.
