Checking Hotmail With Outlook Express

 Checking Hotmail with OE
Here's how to set up OE (Outlook Express) to check your Hotmail: (This only works with Internet Explorer and Outlook Express 5.0 or later)

Click the OE icon, located either on your task bar bottom left, or the mail button on your browser bar (Internet Explorer) When it opens up, click tools, then accounts, then add, then mail, Type in the name you want people to see when you send them mail ,(ex: John Smith), then click next. If you already have a Hotmail account, check "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use", then type in your Hotmail address (mine is just_luvbug@hotmail.com). If you do not have a hotmail account, click the bottom circle "I'd like to sign up with a new account from..." and choose Hotmail. Click next. "My incoming mail server is a ......... server", click the dropdown arrow to the right and choose HTTP, then "My HTTP mail service provider is...." click the dropdown arrow to the right and choose Hotmail,  click next, "Type in the account name and password your internet service provider has given you" Here, you will again type your Hotmail address (mine is just_luvbug@hotmail.com), then type in your Hotmail password, check the "Remember  password" box and click next,

(Hopefully) Voila!! Your Outlook Express will now check your Hotmail.  There are a few more steps to go to automatically have OE download your new (and old) mail from Hotmail:

In the FOLDERS section of OE, click on the Hotmail  logo. You will see "Synchronization of Folders on Hotmail", On Inbox, check the box next to new messages only
Now click on the Hotmail inbox in the FOLDERS section again. You will see OE start checking your Hotmail for new messages.

If all goes well, you are now set up to monitor both your OE and Hotmail accounts in one place. You don't even have to log in with Passport or go to the "Please sign in" page .

If you use OE as your default e-mail, when you click on a link to send e-mail, Outlook Express will still come up.....however....(yes, there's a catch   <G>) once you add hotmail or any other e-mail to OE, you will now have a choice to send it as your OE "persona", your hotmail "persona", or whatever your nickname is for that particular e-mail service.
