Making Your Own QuickLaunch Bar

If you have Windows 98 or later (or Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 4 or later), the taskbar at the bottom of your screen contains a toolbar called the Quick Launch Toolbar. It is located on the left. It contains four icons for running Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Channels, and for returning to the Windows desktop. To add your own toolbar to the taskbar, take the following steps:

  1. Right-click a blank area of the desktop, point to NEW, and then click FOLDER. A new folder appears on the desktop.
  2. Type a name for the folder and press ENTER.
  3. Ctrl+shift+drag any program icons that you want to appear on the toolbar over the new folder icon and release the mouse button. This places a copy of each program icon in the folder.
  4. Drag the folder icon over the taskbar and release the mouse button. Windows transforms the folder into a toolbar and places its icons on the taskbar.

To remove the toolbar, right-click a blank area of the taskbar, point to TOOLBARS, and click the toolbar's name. (You can also drag a program or submenu from the Start Programs menu or any of its submenus to the desktop or to a toolbar displayed on the taskbar. Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging, to copy the items.)
