We’re Breaking New Ground !

More than 2500 years ago, Lord Buddha broke new ground on the full moon day of the month of Asalha by preaching His First Discourse – The Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta (Discourse on the Setting in Motion of the Wheel of Dhamma) in the Deer Park in Benares, India. 

On the 26th of December, 2547 (C.E. 2004), Palelai Buddhist Temple will also be breaking new ground with a Ground Breaking ceremony for its Dhammasathit Cetiya (pagoda) and teaching/practice complex.  This is an especiallyjoyous occasion for all of us at Palelai as a number of Senior Forest Meditation Teachers and Ecclesiastical Elders from thailand will be gracing the occasion.

The programme for the day is as follows:

0730hrs  Pindapata (Alms Collection by the Maha Sangha)

0815hrs Taking The 3 Refuges and 5 Precepts followed by Paritta

             Chanting 

0845hrs Invitation to the Devas to Participate in the Ground Breaking

             Ceremony

0909hrs  Ground Breaking Ceremony for Chedi Dhammasathit

0930hrs Lunch Dana to the Maha Sangha Followed

              by Lunch for All Participants
