Watts Centenary Reunion July 5th & 6th 2003
The reunion was a great success - and a fine time was had by all! I'd love to get a report and some pictures up here, (along with scans of the commorative booklet if I can get enough server space) - it's up to you attendees to give me the raw material to do this! Come on!
(Froggy and all - any pictures you have of the events (and perhaps an official SSA report Reg?) would be greatly appreciated.
Dates and times of the Centenary reunion activities - the official schedule:
Saturday 5th July 2003
1200-1600 Members and guests gather at County School Station
1300 Welcome addresses by CEO. Barnardo's Mr.Roger Singleton & Chair of Breckland District Council.
1330 Entertainment by the Wensum Valley Project 'Ghosts on the Line' includes a possible visitation by one of our one time torturers (Tutors)
Entertainment followed by buffet provide by local friends of the SSA.
1930- 2230 Gather at N.Elmham Village hall for an evening social with music (No Disco!) Bar and buffet and possible surprise historical entertainment.
Sunday 6th. July 2003
1330 approx. Gather at County School Station for ceremonial procession to the site of old school cemetery. Dereham Salvation Army Band in attendance (those who cannot walk may drive up to allocated parking area)
1400 Traditional open air memorial service around the cemetery to be followed by the unveiling and dedication of our memorial plaque by Dr. David Barnardo, Chair of Barnardo's Council.
On completion of service members and friends are invited to wander around at their leisure what remains of the site of WNTS.
1530 A buffet provide by Len & Shirley Werrell (SSA patrons) and local friends in the grounds of the Bungalow near the cemetery
It is hoped to end the day with a traditional naval Sunset ceremony assisted by boy buglers and contingent from the Lowestoft and Norwich SCCs. Reg Trew
