The Greeks are not making a big event of their Birthday its not so important. Maybe they eat something special or they go out for a dinner with some very good friends, but thats it.

                  

The Name Day is the day that we make the big party and here we invite the family and close friends. Mother has been cooking in the kitchen for many hours to make a delicious meal with all sorts of apetizers, salads, rice and  meat. I was once on a name day party and there were 5 kinds of cooked and grilled meat on the table. When you are invited for the party you'll bring a present for the person that has his Name day. But if you did not get an invitation you are always welcome and you can imagine that this day can cost you a lot of  money, because maybe you know more than 1 Georgios.                            

The Name of a Greek men or woman is ussually related to an Orthodox Saint which we celebrate every year on the same date.
