BEST FOOT FORWARD

Denby Dale Parish Walking Group invites you to join us for our latest programme of walks. In respect of the group’s Civil Liability Insurance non-members may walk with the group, but must become members by their third walk.

All our walks are reasonably easy and suitable for families. They are from 4-7 miles long and will take from 2-4 hours (including a break). Please bring a drink or snack, and carry a waterproof jacket, stout footwear is also advisable when walking in the countryside. Children must be supervised by an adult and dogs must be kept under close control at all times.

Brighouse to Elland and back     Sunday 22nd June 2008

Meet David and Ingrid at 11am, Brighouse, Mill Royd Street East Pay and Display car park (GR SE145226). 7 mile walk taking 3 1/2 hours . Rural walking taking in part of Calderdale Way, incorporating wooded areas and canal towpath. 

 

South and West of Skelmanthorpe   Saturday 26th July 2008 

Meet John and Marian at 1.30pm Skelmanthorpe Council Office Car Park. 4 mile circular walk taking approx. 2 1/2 hours. Mainly footpaths but a few short stretches of metalled road.

 

Saturday 26th July 2008   South & West of Skelmanthorpe

Meet John and Marian at 1.30 pm Skelmanthorpe Council Office Car Park. This is a 4 mile circular walk taking approximately 2 ½ hours. Mainly footpaths but a few short stretches of metalled road.
Covering Lower Cumberworth, via the Thorpes, then  Lower Ozzings via Kirk Stiles, returning via Woodhouse Dan., the railway embankment and Strike Lane.

 


Sunday 3rd August 2008    Just A Nice Walk          

Meet Linda & Bill at 12.00 pm. Silkstone Garden Centre car park.
This is a 5 to 6 mile walk taking about 3 ½ hours. Picturesque walk taking  in tracks, fields  and footpaths.

 


Saturday 13th September 2008  Around Denby Dale          

Meet  Sheila at 11.30 am at the War Memorial Car Park Denby Dale. This is a 5 to 6 mile walk taking about 3 hours. A look at our local footpaths and bridleways.

 


Sunday 19th October 2008  Wentworth Castle & Stainborough Park 

Meet Paul & Margaret at 10.30 a.m at the long barn visitors centre car park, Wentworth Castle Gardens, Lowe Lane Stainborough Barnsley (GR.SE319031). Those wishing to share  cars should meet at The Dunkirk Inn car park at 10.00 am. There is a charge for parking at Wentworth, but is refundable if £5 or more is spent at the on site café. This walk is about 4/5 miles taking about 2 ½ hours. Walking in Stainborough Park through a landscaped setting associated with the impressive former stately home, including interesting monuments and follies. Meal possible afterwards at Cafe, pub in vicinity - or at Wortley Hall, which isn't far away.
