The Actual Theater Company www.actualny.com Our Mission: To create a sustained Playwright's workshop to: --Build Community, Diversity, and Inclusion by --Creating dynamic, original theater that represents the stories of real people in a manner that a diverse audience will find compelling, challenging, and inspiring. --mentoring young and emerging local writer's, so that they may recognize and achieve their potential, with a particular emphasis on inspiring and nurturing their educational as well as professional ambitions and sense of civic responsibility. --contributing to the vitality and vibrancy of the Capital region, by presenting a year-round season featuring the work of our participants. The Actual Theater Company offers opportunities for people interested in acting, directing, stage managing, writing, building sets, lights, sound, and costumes. We plan to fully involve the local arts community, local high schools, as well as undergrads, grad students, graduates and faculty from local colleges; as directors, designers, and actors. Our goal is to give young, and untested playwrights the opportunity to follow their scripts through the production process and work closely with actors and directors on revisions. It gives actors the opportunity to work on the creation of new roles and technicians the chance to work as part of an ensemble; while giving audiences the opportunity to discover and support new talent. Playwrights may submit two ONE-ACT plays for our spring/autumn 2007 season (30 seconds to 30 minutes in length) Keep in mind we are a small company taking the risk to produce new works; and cannot accommodate large casts or long lists of tech requirements. WHAT KIND OF PLAYS ARE WE SEEKING? -Works that are ambitious, fresh, playful, engaging, energizing, provocative, powerful and theatrical. -Works that reveal unheard and vital perspectives. -Authors with clear goals about their writing who are open to Actual Theater Company's development process We do not shy away from strong language, violence, or mature themes. Nor do we require them, just tell us a good STORY. Calling All Actors!! We've been holding open auditions, for actors to perform the work of our participants during our spring and autumn 2007 season, at our headquarters located at: The Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave. in Albany; but we still have room for a few more talented and committed actors of all ages, races, and genders to join our ensemble. For more info call: 518-253-3756 or click on the auditions link on our website www.actualny.com we are a 503c not-for-profit organization Please pass this on!
Want to listen to some great music online while corresponding with your groups. Check out Ciaran Nesbitt's http://www.radio80online.com/ It's fantastic. Those who know me, know that I wrote a book a couple of years ago, and dedicated it to my brother who has cerebral palsy. Well this is what he does with his time. Geraldine
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS“BEST BI SHORT STORIES” What is a bi short story? We are seeking stories that illuminate something about the experience of being bi. Stories can focus on relationships, romance, dating and sex, of course but we’d like to see more than that. We’d like to see stories about relationships with parents, relatives or children…Passover Seder anyone? We’d like a bi military story, a bi same-sex marriage story, a job discrimination or acceptance story, a story about a bisexual pet…from the pet’s point of view. We want to see bi athletes, bi cowboys at Gay Rodeo, bi action-heros, spys, super-heros and vampires. Bi friends go to a movie, bump into their exes who dumped them, and hold hands; pretending to be on a date. A bi artist struggles to finish a painting. A bi senior citizen in a nursing home looks out the window as the Pride March is passing by and reflects on all the protest marches she went to when she was young. A bi person having a spiritual vision, a bi transsexual teacher who leaves for summer vacation as Don and comes back on the first day of school as Donna. All genres such as fantasy, science-fiction, romance, historical, mystery, western, vampires, etc. as well as contemporary fiction are encouraged. Sex scenes in the context of a story are fine but erotica not accepted. Be creative. We are so tired of the overused bisexual plot: bi person cheats on lover, causing pain to everyone. A couple of these have been accepted because they were well written, and contained something unexpected. If you’ve already written one, send it in and it will be reviewed. If you are starting something new, please come up with something original. For more info contact: Sheela Lambert at info@biwriters.org

Hi, I've just finished a book titled "Across Seven Seas! A true soldier's story." It's a story of a Colonel of Indian Army who suffered an optic nerve injury and rendered blind. It has a rich account of his childhood, his youth full of ups and down and eventually joining the army in commissioned rank. He lost his right eye just one year after joining the army in Indo-Pak war. How did he fight his disability as an young man and how did he manage to continue in the fighting arms, rose up to varied senior ranks, fought yet another war, reached further heights as the life moved on, his romantic episodes, marriage. It has the historic backdrop of India-Pakistan conflict including Siachen and Sino-Indian conflicts. He was doing well and suddenly yet another catostrophic mishap and struck by blindness. His battle of rehabiliation in South Africa, acquiring a guide dog in USA; his visits to fantastic land of America and dip in American culture. His experience of 9/11 and so on... He concludes his book with 'Rules of Life" as perceived & tested by him after going through six decades of his life. I'm looking for a publisher to edit, print and promote my book on profit sharing basis. I've no money to invest. Any taker to help, kindly contact me at viruswarup@hotmail.com. With warm regards, Viru Swarup

Let's get a group together! You can contact me at roosterlady@hotmail.com. Use the subject line: Disabled Screenwriters. Ony serious inquiries, please! Thanks Hope to hear from you-- Angela
Hello! I would like to introduce myself. I am a relative newcomer to this forum. Prior to the more recent disability, I was learning/reading disabled. I have been a writer/artisan for most of my life. I have always had wordfinding problems and as a result, I became a self-taught word artist/writer. My essays have been published in newspapers. I have received some recognition for my other writings and poetry among other things. I am finding my way through what has only recently become apparent;major adjustments to a tramatic head injury and five 5 years of unfolding side effects. I have handled the solving of this mysterious puzzle on my own and with very little support, discovering only recently that you "can't know what you don't know". Hence, the overall impact of this head injury and my trip backward through the fog and maze. To say this has been difficult and exhausting is an extreme understatement even though the most recent head injury has turned out to be a blessing in disguise;a miracle. The Miracle? That I have found my way at all through the fog and maze of a head injury like my own. This is not only a testimony, it is a testament to my faith. A faith that not only comes from my spiritual beleifs but through my artistic temperment;the inate understanding of the inherent determination of a natural artistic ability. My trust in these gifts is the only reason I have survived. Thank-you for inviting me to this forum, sublimerecherche
www.clarified.net is thrilled to be selling My Walker and Other Glamorous Accessories by Claire Theriot Mestepey. Due to popular demand, this humorous ebook is now being released in print form accompanied with illustrations that are sure to make you smile! My Walker and Other Glamorous Accessories by Claire Theriot Mestepey is a collection of short short stories. The stories feature a disabled woman and her unorthodox, politically incorrect views of the world. If money makes the world spin round, humor makes the dizziness enjoyable. This Ally McBeal-like heroine, may warm your insides, you know like heartburn. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> If you’re looking for an inspirational tale of how disability triumphs evil, I’ll be happy to recommend a few other books. My Walker and Other Glamorous Accessories has no intention of changing the world, it’s just a written confessional that besides being “inspirational”, the handicap heroine is just as neurotic and insane as the next guy. <o:p></o:p>
