Opening A Circle
Lock all outer doors
Turn off All Phones
Leave Watches outside the circle
Begin building the circle ~ using each of the four elements ~ seal its existence with the Sword
As the Divine to Fill it with Light
The Fifth Element of Spirit - You provide yourself
Whilst building the circle visualize the space as an island With Water and Salt you create Sea and Land
With the Incense you are creating the Air and the Sun
Listen to music if you wish (nothing too loud)! ~ avoid music with vocals if possible
Sweep the Circle with a traditional Besom (see glossary). The noise sounds quite like the sea I think!. Sweep slowly Sun wise.
Open Evocation - This is your intent ~ You state what you would desire, whom you want to Evoke (which gods an goddesses) and your intentions. ~ you can be as elaborate or as simple as you want.
This is a very simple way of opening a circle; I'm sure that many don't do it this way, but I personally find it perfect for me
Saluting The Elements
Stand in from of each element in turn (starting with the East) draw the pentagram with your athame ~ say a greeting to the Element and imagine it (a cloudy sky for instance for East or a wave for the West Hot sun for the South and Hilltop for the North) In the Order of East, South, West, North ~ Feel it as you are visualizing it. ( draw the pentagram differently for each element for the east I start at the east side of the Pentagram etc.
The Circle is Open
To close your circle:
I use this ...
" (Goddess and God names)..... I thank you for your help and guidance. I ask for your blessing as you now depart to your fair and lovely realm, Hail and farewell".
And to dismiss the Elements:
East ~ Blue ~
"Brothers and Sisters of the Eastern Quarter, Children of the Air, I thank you for your presence and guidance, Hail and farewell".
South ~ Red/Yellow ~
"Brothers and Sisters of the Southern Quarter, Children of Fire, we thank you for your presence and guidance, hail and farewell"
West ~ Green ~
"Brothers and Sisters of the Western Quarter, Children of Water, we thank you for your presence and guidance, hail and farewell"
North ~ Brown ~
Brothers and Sisters of the Northern Quarter, Children of the Earth, we thank you for your presence and your guidance, hail and farewell"
"Blessed Be"
