ENCOURAGED
Hello,thank you for coming...
I'm sorry you had too wait.
It seems you've come for nothing
but too better than too late
I see they sent you here today
to rule out kidney cancer
I see they did not share with you
you thought that, not the answer.
"You do have a condition
though not as bad as it may seem
I've known patient with perfect function
live out their wildest dreams."
"You may have renal failure
it's really hard to say.
Just appreciate your kidneys while you can.
You could lose them any day."
This is said to comfort who?
the cardboard cutout patient's pride?
it does nothing to calm the tide that ebbs
a soon raging fear inside
I'm fine I'm not, I'm not, I'm fine
it drives me to the brink.
and then as if this isn't stress enough
we cannot smoke or drink!!!
But after initial anger cools
and fear is caught in hand
you begin to think it's not so bad
and start to understand.
No one has a perfect life
we play the cards we're dealt.
And when we come to think of it
we feel like we've always felt.
We may have a kidney or two
that isn't quite the same
it may have cysts or need a trade
to make it through the game.
But as people we haven't changed
laughter still bubbles inside.
and life's still for the taking...
it's just a bumpier ride
