Joseph Budge - Headstone Inscription
I was a wretch, by sin defiled
God all my baseness knew
But Jesus from his father came
That he might me renew
And raise me from such depths of sin
Who had his name blasphemed
this me amazed I can't tell him
He should my soul redeem
My soul dear friends his name doth praise
And shall through endless days
Will you take time with my song
Those hallowed notes to raise.
NOTE: Am not sure if this is a poem that Joseph or somebody else wrote or if it is the words to an old hymn. If anyone recognized it as a hymn please let me know the name of it. Thanks Janet
