Online support for Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD or FD) is growing daily. Here are links to several FMD groups and organizations. If you have a group you would like listed here, please contact the manager.
Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America (FMDSA):
FMD ACTION has determined that an FMDSA founder and director appears to have been involved in unprofessional, unethical and possibly illegal political activities as a representative of FMDSA, a charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status. In consequence, FMDSA has been removed from this North American webring. We no longer support FMDSA’s efforts to raise funds and solicit contributions for fibromuscular dysplasia.
Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD, or FD) is both a disease and congenital disorder. FMD affects collagen and connective tissue and takes many forms. Depending on FMD's form and location in the body, it can cause symptoms like stroke, heart failure, kidney failure (acute or chronic), fibromyalgia, repetitive motion syndromes, headaches, urinary incontinence, irritable and inflammatory bowel syndromes, peripheral artery disease, cardiovascular disease, ADHD, SIDS, memory loss, mood disorders, asthma, high blood pressure, aneurysms, blockages or stenosis, thrombosis, and more.
If it's caught early enough, FMD may be curable.
