Heir To King Arthur

Edward II was determined to restore King Arthur's Throne of All Britian. To this end he ordered The known heir, Thomas Harding De Berkeley to Rome to be anointed King Of All Britian. Thomas took with him the documents to prove his descent and gave these precious documents to the Vatican. The Pope was convinced and annointed him King Of All Britian. Thomas then returned to Britian where Edward had made arrangements to send him to Scotland to be anointed King of Scotland. These machinations were all arranged and Thomas was sent to Stirling Castle to prepare to enter Scotland. When Edward's forces arrived as escort they left Stirling Castle for Edinborough. In the swamp that blocked the path the army was fired upon by a few archers of Robert The Bruce. The English panicked and tried to back out of the swamp. This was the beginning of the Battle of Bannockburn. which is dated to about 1319.

Thomas Harding, anointed King of All Britian was captured by Robert The Briuce's forces and imprisioned in Robert's castle, where he died 23 July 1321. Since Robert Bruce effectively brought down the power of the nobility, this was the end of the hopes for an heir to Arthur on the Throne of All Britian.

Thomas Harding de Berkeley (1245-1321). He was with the king at the seige of Kenilworth Castle, October, 1266. He was in the Welsh Wars and was given a special grant for his duties in these wars by Edward I, of the liberty to hunt with his own dogs within the king's forests of Mendip and the chase of Kingswood. He then went to Scotland and fought in the Battle of Falkirk, which was won 22 July 1298. He then fought at the celebrated seige of Caerlaverock. He was summoned to Parliament as a Baron from 24 June 1295 to 15 May 1321. He married the daughter of William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby. He was succeeded by his eldest son.
