Family: Acanthuridae.
Origin: Indo - Pacific.
Max Size: 5 inches, more in the wild.
Temperament: Peaceful.
Sociability: If the tank is large enough it may be possible to keep more than one of these, Peaceful with other fish.
Environment: pH 8.1 to 8.4, SG 1.021 to 1.024, Very good water quality is essential.
Climate: Tropical, 76f to 79f.
Diet: Grazer, must have lots of vegetable matter in the diet. Must also be fed small and often.
Breeding: Unlikely the fry go through a planktonic stage and would be extremely difficult to raise.
Sexual Characteristics: Nothing obvious.
Availability: Very common.
Further Information: A must for any community tank. One of the smaller Tangs which makes it easier to house for most people. Has a habit of laying on its side when first introduced which can be a little alarming but don't be tempted to give it a prod, just leave it and all will be well.
