All this family have very compressed bodies, They are not really suitable for the raw novice but are not to difficult in most cases. They require a lot of vegetable food in their diet. Although they shoal in the wild this is not the case in the average sized aquarium. They all possess a "scalpel" near the base of their tail and it is worth bearing this in mind should you ever need to net one.
