Message Board Topic Index
FC Management has provided the community with a listing of topics that have been posted on the Message Board. While the search engine does spider message boards, this index is provided so that members may access topics discussed in the past and add to discussions if so desired with one quick click, or to simply read prior discussions, without having to sort through all the postings.
1. Click the Messages Index link on the left navigational panel.
2. Topics are listed alphabetically and the remainder of the list can be accessed by pushing the "next" button at the top right of the screen.
3. Select your topic and click the underlined quick link to the right of the topic. Pushing this will take you directly to that discussion. OR You can click the magnifying glass icon to read the details of the entry including a short summary of the discussion thread.
Can't Find What You're Looking For?
This website gets respidered once a month, and the search engine is a free service that has restrictions on what it does index when it compiles information for search results. Therefore, results by the search engine don't necessarily reflect all of the content or the latest content added to The Foodie's Corner. This website is updated daily with new information. If you are looking for something that you have not been able to find results for, please:
1. Leave a message on the message board querying us about it, and we will compile information for you to the best of our ability or direct you to the appropriate section of The Foodie's Corner where you can find such information.
2. Email us at foodiescorner@hotmail.com and we will answer your queries.
Understanding The Search Engine
The FC Search Engine operates like any other typical search engine. When clicking the above link, you'll encounter a search box as pictured below. To use:
1. Type in subject or keyword that you wish to search for
2. Select which part of the community you wish to search for in the drop down menu; either all of FC or specific areas such as recipes or photograph albums
3. The search engine is periodically updated. If your search yields no hits, it could be that either (a) the search engine has yet to be updated since there are new additions daily to the community, (b) FC has yet to cover the topic in question or (c) the search engine did not register the topic in question when it was spidering the website.
Understanding Search Results
Pictured below is a screenshot of a typical search result at FC
1. The topic or keyword you desire to search
2. Which section of the community you have selected to search in
3. The actual search button which executes your search
4. The number of total results for your search subject
5. The hyperlink to the specific page. Pressing that link will take you to the desired search result page.
6. The actual web address of the page that the search result yielded. Reading the first section of the address will often give you a good idea of what type of reference and page the search result yielded if the summary itself is unclear.
7. The summary of the search result. In this example, a search of "eggs" found a 'hit' in the Kitchen Science section of the community that dealt with the topic of Why eggs turn hard when boiled.
1. Use keywords to search the site.
2. Avoid using the generic search term "FOOD" because it will yield hits from the entire site since the site is named Foodie's Corner.
3. Narrow down your search by area of community if possible
