For many people, the word history represents a dry and boring subject, something in which they are not at all interested. In the context of our times, I believe it's fair to say, that most of us live our lives with very little impact on and largely untouched by history, or so we think. For others, nothing could be further from the truth and I often wonder if, at the time, they realised their place in history would be immortalized.

Within our own families, we have individuals who chose to actively participate in historical events. We also have many individuals for whom history was an unwanted intrusion into their lives. In addition, there are those who made history, just by being there.
