Rear sway bar for MKll or lll cars.

By Karl Schluter -Low Zep

Mounting a sway bar to the rear end of a Zephyr can make a very rewarding difference to the handling of the car. More so if you have soft rear springs. If you look at cars already fitted with sway bars at the back or after market sway bars first, you will see there is a variety of ways etc to mount them. I cold pressed (carefully!) a Japanese 17mm sway bar to suit my car. It is mounted inboard of the leaf springs. I use a large U-bolt mounted over the diff tube (B) with a suitable steel flat drilled to suit, to mount underneath the tube and then fabricate the sway bar mount itself. Do this for both sides.

Some wrecking yards etc, have mounts on cars you can buy. I also used after market performance bushes while I was at it.

Where the sway bar pin mounts through the floor pan (A) (under the rear seat) I use large flat washers, if you can, have them coming through a double skinned area.
