In the pictures below you can easily see the space between cone and anal opening is vastly different. The space in a male is longer. The distance less in a female.
If you cannot hold your chinchilla very well to sex them. Wrap in a towel to keep legs
and feet tucked out of the way. You will then I am sure find it easier.
