Chad Brannon took on the role of rough-around-the-edges Zander Smith on General Hospital in July 2000. Zander's intense love for Emily puts his strength to the test, as he must deal with saying goodbye to this girl that he loves so completely. Chad's touching portrayal of this troubled teen garnered him a Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Newcomer in July 2001. He has also been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor.
Chad's entrance into the world of acting is anything but typical. His first experience in acting was the result of a dare when he auditioned for a high school play and surprised himself by landing the lead role. Acting came naturally for Chad and his passion for the craft grew. He continued to perform in high school productions. He went on to study acting at the university level for two years, then pursued acting professionally in Houston. Realizing that there was a market for young actors in Hollywood, Chad made the brave step of moving to Los Angeles in July of 1999. His first role, an appearance in Chicken Soup for the Soul, came in 1999. That small role was followed by guest-starring appearances on JAG, Undressed, Malcolm in the Middle and Days of Our Lives.
Chad resides in Los Angeles and spends his free time skydiving and rock-climbing.
