1963
Dr. Steve Hardy, chief of internal medicine, and devoted head nurse Jessie Brewer take up residence on General Hospital’s seventh floor.

1964
Jessie Brewer’s marriage to handsome young intern Phil Brewer is repeatedly threatened by Phil’s infidelities.

Steve Hardy is charmed by swinging airline stewardess Audrey March, who arrives at General Hospital to visit her sister, grumpy nurse Lucille March.

1965
Attorney Lee Baldwin romantically pursues Jessie Brewer, but he soon gives up and marries nurse Meg Bentley. Lee adopts Meg’s young son, Scott.

1966
Audrey March is wooed by a former lover, seedy Randy Washburn, but decides instead to marry the stable Steve Hardy.

1967
After divorcing Phil Brewer, Jessie is charged with the murder of her new husband, Dr. John Prentice. Cleared of the charges, Jessie agrees to an ill-fated remarriage to Phil.

Believing that her husband, Steve, is infertile, Audrey Hardy secretly becomes pregnant through artificial insemination. Audrey loses the baby as the result of an auto accident. Depressed, she divorces Steve. Later, she marries Dr. Tom Baldwin, Lee’s brother.

1968
When Phil brewer is reported dead in a plane crash, Jessie marries her compassionate friend, Dr. Peter Taylor.

1969
Jessie Brewer is shocked when her "late" husband Phil, alive and living a new life with a new identity, is injured in an accident and brought to General Hospital.

1970
Audrey March, now divorced from Tom Baldwin, who raped her, secretly gives birth to his child, Tommy.

1971
Audrey March stands trial (but is eventually cleared) of the murder of her son’s babysitter, Mrs. Nelson.

1972
Jessie Brewer divorces Phil, then becomes guardian of her brother’s two troubled teen-agers, Kent and Caroline Murray.

1973
Dr. Lesley Williams joins the staff of General Hospital.

1974
Though pining away for Steve Hardy, Audrey March marries alcoholic Dr. Jim Hobart. She also celebrates the wedding of her sister, Lucille, to Al Weeks.

1975
Lesley Williams discovers that Laura, the daughter she thought had died years ago, is alive! Years earlier, she had been adopted by Jason and Barbara Vining. Lesley’s obsession with her daughter leads her to neglect her marriage to wealthy Cameron Faulkner.

Phil Brewer is murdered, and Jessie, his ex-wife, stands accused of the crime. The killer turns out to be nurse Augusta McLeod.

1976
When Audrey March’s marriage to Jim Hobart collapses, she finally finds happiness with Steve Hardy. However, one day after their wedding, Audrey discovers that the marriage is not valid because her late second husband, Tom Baldwin, is alive.

Drs. Jeff and Monica Webber join the staff of General Hospital to participate in an experimental program—"Mr. and Mrs. Intern."

The Webbers’ marriage suffers when Jeff’s brother, Rick, returns from prison camp. While Monica is torn between the two brothers, Heather Grant lures Jeff into her bed and becomes pregnant. Monica ultimately stays with Jeff.

1977
Lesley Williams and her fiancé, Rick Webber, rescue her daughter, Laura, from a cult and bring her back to Port Charles. Lesley and Rick marry. The relationship between mother and daughter becomes strained when Laura becomes infatuated with both an older man, David Hamilton, and a young law student,
Scotty Baldwin.

Without telling Jeff Webber her whereabouts, Heather Grant gives birth to his baby, Steven Lars. The newborn baby is sold on the black market and adopted by Port Charles residents Peter and Diana Taylor.

The newly arrived Dr. Alan Quartermaine wages love and war with Monica Webber. The pair are attracted to each other, but find themselves at odds while working on a new cardiac wing for General Hospital.

Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer, a vivacious redhead from the wrong side of the tracks, joins the hospital staff as a student nurse, and sets out to win the affections of Scotty Baldwin and lure him away from Laura Webber.

1978
Bobbie Spender calls on her older brother, Luke, to help in her scheme to come between Scotty Baldwin and Laura Webber.

Lesley Webber takes the blame for the murder of David Hamilton, who was actually killed in a struggle with her daughter, Laura. Lesley is freed from jail when Laura, who blocked out the painful incident, remembers that she killed David in a moment of temporary insanity.

A now-divorced Monica Webber marries Alan Quartermaine. She still yearns, however, to be with her former brother-in-law, Rick. Jeff Webber begins a short-term marriage to Heather Grant.

1979
Scotty Baldwin and Laura Webber marry and go to Hollywood for their honeymoon. Upon their return, the demands of Scotty’s new job take their toll on the marriage, and Laura is drawn into a close friendship with Campus Disco manager and mob member, Luke Spencer.

Alan Quartermaine’s sister, Tracy, marries the conniving Assistant District Attorney Mitch Williams, who is waging war on organized crime in Port Charles.

After a bitter quarrel with her husband, Laura meets up with Luke. Ordered by the mob to kill Mitch Williams, a troubled Luke confesses the depths of his feelings for Laura, then forces her into sex on the floor of the Campus Disco. Later, the two become a couple.

1980
Rick and Lesley Webber divorce, and Monica Quartermaine becomes pregnant with a child she believes to be Rick’s. Alan, her jealous husband, tries and fails to kill Rick and Monica. Monica is stunned to learn that Alan, not Rick, fathered her newborn, A.J.

To escape from the mob, Luke Spencer and Laura Baldwin flee town with mob boss Frank Smith’s "black book." They enjoy a dangerously romantic summer on the run.

Heather Webber plots to get her baby back from the Taylors by attempting to drive Diana insane. However, Heather is the one who goes over the edge, forcing her husband, Jeff, to have her institutionalized. With Heather away, Jeff falls deeply in love with nurse Annie Logan.

Edward Quartermaine slumps over while signing his will. Edward begs disinherited daughter, Tracy, for his medicine, which she refuses to give him. Tracy watches her father "die," but is shocked when Edward springs back to life and signs the will!

1981
Annie Logan is framed for the murder of Diana Taylor. Heather Webber is the likely suspect, but the killer is revealed to be her mother, Alice Grant.

Luke Spencer, Laura Baldwin, and World Security Bureau (WSB) agent Robert Scorpio team up to prevent the maniacal Mikkos Cassidine from freezing the world through the use of a secret formula found inside the Ice Princess, the world’s largest uncut diamond.

In a beautiful outdoor ceremony, Luke and Laura are married. Their reception is disrupted by the return of Laura’s first husband, Scotty Baldwin. Soon after the wedding, Laura mysteriously disappears on the Port Charles waterfront.

Bobbie Spencer falls in love with the handsome ladies’ man Dr. Noah Drake. Bobbie unsuccessfully fakes blindness to gain his affection.
