Besides the regular batch of characters, a soap needs three things, a cop who arrests the bad guy, a lawyer to defend the bad guy, and a psychiatrist to say that the bad guy did the bad thing because of issues with his parents or some other mental malfunction. Ever since Kevin Collins left town...well he didn't actually leave town- you see he's still in "Port Charles",
but you know what I mean- GH had been solely lacking in the head shrink dept.. Good thing Dr. Cameron Lewis came along, and what a great shrink he is. Introduced slowly and believably, the good Doctor was just what the soap needed. Not only did he have his hands full with Port Charles finest off-and-on- again nut cases--he also filled a huge gap in one particular plotline, Zander's.
We finally got to find out who the heck Zander really was, and why he was on such a destructive bent. Dr. Lewis was able to focus on everybody's problems but his own tortured past. I found that, and his interaction with Zander entirely believable.
I never made it a secret that I never really liked Zander, but he was really good in the scenes with his father. The scenes kinda really solved the problems I had with Zander in the first place. The boy seemed to drift around without rhyme or reason, falling continuously into trouble. The revelation of his past kinda explained all that. FINALLY a revelation that made some sense. On a soap every new character has a "secret agenda" or "past" and this time it all seemed to come to an agreeable conclusion.
Now let's talk about Summer time. It looks like it's gonna be a cool one. It seems that a cold pressure front is rising from the west and ....oh wait a minute that's Cool Black Meteorological Rant. 
I'm supposed top be talking about GH here. Well Summer time on GH has gotten equally cold. I liked Summer a lot when she first came on. She was mysterious and kinda sultry, kinda dirty (in a good way). The kind of girl who would tell you to pull the car over on the way to her parents house and...I just totally bought her as a call girl. She wasn't angelic
and pure looking. You could tell this girl had not come into town on a turnip truck. Her flirtations with Luke, and subsequently Lucky, were ripe with possibilities. Even the interjection of Nikolas into the mix seemed promising. From my use of past tense verbage (for those who missed them- "liked", "were", "seemed"), you can probably tell that my mood about Summer has changed. This whole, "I did it for my brother", seems not only just a reason to add yet another new character, but kinda stoopid. Maybe it's just me, but why would Nik go through all that just to divert Luke's attention from his mother? It seems a little contrived. I hope it all comes to a satisfying conclusion unlike that Roscoe mess.
Speaking of Roscoe, did he marry a witch or what? I wonder who wore the pants in that family? Faith must be the good witch cause she rocks! Not that she is "good" as in good natured. She's kind of kinda sultry, kinda dirty. The kind of girl who would tell you to pull the car over on the way to her parent's house and...get some directions because she forgot the way because her parents kicked her out the day she turned 18 because she was such a...witch. I guess that kinda thing you just don't outgrow. The only thing I don't like about Faith is how she is treated by Sonny, Jason, Carly, Ric, and Courtney I find it a little incredulous that she would put up with all that. Yes, I know she has "tried to kill Sonny" et al, but it makes her character look weak when everybody and their sister are slapping her around.
Speaking of Courtney, (the above "and their sister" remark) I used to really like her...well this is what I said in BIG & BLACK
As far as Courtney, I liked her a lot mostly because she stood by such a loser as AJ. Yes, everyone called her dumb, but I liked her gumption in standing up to the world for the man she loved. How do you not like that? Now her "dumbness" became glaringly clear once she "fell" for Jason. It was so maudlin. I liken it to those incessantly maudlin scenes of Lucky and Sarah...can you just gag?
Now she totally gets on my nerves. I wish somebody would just kidnap her for real. But maybe I'm wrong because she seems to be the "perfect" match for the "perfect" Jason.
NuNuLucky I just think he doesn't have any chemistry with Summer or more importantly Luke! I think GH has just ruined the promising next generation of GH. NuNuLucky, NuGia, NuEmily...they are not just new faces, they are new characters literally. I guess that's what happens when you recast.
But the next next generation seems promising.
Let me say first that I'm tired of the Dillon movie references already. It seems REALLY thrown in. "Hey let's let him be this young kid who's into old movies". It's tired. Other than that, he really seems like the kid who tries to be cool even though he isn't. Georgie and Maxie are great. They are the best siblings on GH since Luke and Bobbie. Lucas still seems ill defined to me, but the character has potential. I think they all have potential for a great storyline...will that potential be realized? Only time will reveal.
Speaking of great siblings, WHAT THE HECK is this Skye....stuff. Skye and AJ ROCKED as siblings...now they aren't? This is one of the worst revelations ever. It is just stoopid. What are they trying to accomplish? Free her up for romantic entanglements with a Q? Puhlease. The familial entanglements would have more than sufficed.
Did I cover everything? I think so for next time I'm gonna focus on FAREWELLS. What I think about the actors leaving GH.
