| Not since Abbott and Costello, Ralph Cramden and Ed Norton, Laurel and Hardy, Siskel and Ebert? , has there been a duo so diametrically opposed in stature as well as verse. What happens when icons (in our own minds) collide? Here's your chance to bear witness. We will discuss, as only we can, an issue pertaining to GH, and hopefully we will come to an accordant conclusion without any bloodshed. 03/04/03 | KEY COOL BLACK: ALL IN BLUE
BIG DAVE SMITH: ALL IN RED ITALICS: DIRECT QUOTE | Cool Black: Last time you mentioned something about tackling a pregnant Alexis. I hope you don't take this personally, but I alerted the PCPD.
Big Dave Smith: Like THEY'LL ever find me! They couldn't find their hand with both hands... LOL.
CB: LOL. I agree. You seemed to infer that you had a problem with Alexis being pregnant. Am I right?
BDS: Oh, CB, you are ENTIRELY right. Cool... this pregnancy, unfortunately, was the one thing that Megan McTavish made sure would haunt us for the rest of our lives. Potentially, anyway.
The Sonny/Alexis sex... it was just wrong. I used to enjoy their friendship, but apparently a male and a female on a soap can just not be platonic friends anymore. The "lovemaking" scenes were just wrong, and Nancy Lee Grahn admitted herself that she thought they were horrid.
And then this baby. This albatross around my neck. As if it wasn't bad enough to live through the experience of watching such unadulterated WRONGNESS, then I had to watch Alexis hide the product of the ill-conceived conception. Then lie about it. Then use Ned to lie about it. Yes, Ned stepped in at first, but then she readily used him to keep the paternity of her child a secret.
She did exactly what Carly did, for the same reasons. Yet instead of letting Alexis poignantly reflect on the ways her situation paralleled Carly's, her rival's, it only seemed to heighten the moral pedestal that Alexis has resided on for many years. Alexis started this huge crusade against Sonny. She basically became the woman we saw in the New Year's episode.
I don't know what they're doing with Alexis, but they are getting nothing from me with her storyline. What's her deal? Is she just obsessive compulsive? Crazy? An overly devoted mother? Basically, she's back to being the supporting role lawyer for everyone with a real storyline, and she's got a robo-baby to keep her company. I just don't see the point of it all, because as it looks on the screen now, the danger of Sonny finding out has passed. So where's the suspense? Where's the part where I care that she's a single mother who's alienated all two of her friends? And has no one but Cameron? And who is HE?
It's back to everyone on this show becoming a prop to the one storyline GH is telling.
CB: First of all I really liked Sonny & Alexis' friendship. I think it truly evolved into love...on both parts. Of course Sonny wasn't over Carly, much the same way he wasn't completely over Brenda. They kinda "do it" (whatever "it" is ) for him. I think his relationship with Alexis was more mature...more adult...less tempestuous than his firsts. I finally thought Sonny may be ready to put aside the frivolity of his past. All that "drama" is for young couples, isn't he getting too old to be acting like a teenager? Fighting, screaming and breaking his umpteenth decanter set? I thought Alexis would add a more mature complexity to Sonny Corinthos. Not to mention being involved with someone who can keep you out of jail.
Don't get me wrong, the sex was bad...it was bad, but it was the logical next step. Either he would realize that Alexis was the one for him, or like most men just couldn't be friends with a woman without getting her in bed.
But back to the baby. I think a biological child for Sonny is overdue. A baby could/would add nothing, but torment to a tortured man such as Sonny. I think he would obsess over his child having a "normal life" among other parental issues. As far as now, the danger of Sonny finding out has passed. So where's the suspense? The best part is that this is laying in abeyance and is always a ticking time bomb. When Sonny finds out...the grits will hit the pan! I'm glad about the "Sonny spawn" it's about time.
Now as far as this Alexis split personality stuff I don't know about. It seems like too much of a stretch even though it is kind of an interesting way to make the Alcazar killer a major character. I thought for sure it would be someone we didn't care about ALA Angel being the Sorel killer. I put even money that it was going to be Brenda's nurse or some crapolla like that. Besides this new "twist" with Alexis I found the Alcazar "murder misery" just that misery. The whole court case was lame and so was the "peril" Brenda and Jason was in. There was no fear of any real consequences involved with this crime...and still might not be where Alexis is involved. It was all just a bunch of nonsense.
So what did you think about the whole Alcazar "murder misery" and the Alexis split personality? Continued, click below...
