THE NINE WAYS OF PRAYER OF ST. DOMINIC
The rosary came to us from St Dominic...try to use some of these postures in your daily prayers.

1. Bowing before the alter of the Lord (perhaps in imitation of the wisemen at the nativity).
2. Laying face down upon the ground before the alter (begging for mercy! ~perhaps also in imitation of Christ falling beneith the weight of the wood).

3. Flogging (relating to our Lord's scourging): This is an ancient practice of religious orders: please substitute with tiny acts of self denial offered to God with great love...as advised by Therese the Little Flower of Jesus.

4. Kneeling (likely relates to the angelic salutation).

5. Standing (may relate to many of the mysteries of the Rosary and poverty in the sight of God).

6. Standing with arms outstretched (relates to calvary as well as to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Glorious Mysteries).

7. Standing with arms up (receiving graces from the throne of the Mother of God).

8. Reading (heartfelt devotion to the word of God).

9. Walking Prayer (meditation during travels, appreciation for God the creator, spreading the gospel in every footstep).
