Is a good on line vet manual it will give you lots of general information.

This where you can get a lot of good info on health, vaccines etc.

I also vaccinate against LYME DISEASE.  I have had 2 one dog that had lyme disease and was treated and feel it can be Fatal if they get lyme disease that affects the Kidneys.  It does help protect them.  Especially since my dogs are at high risk being in the hunt fields most of the time.

I feed NUTRO'S NATURAL CHOICE LAMB AND RICE to all my dogs and puppies.  I do not feed special puppy food feeling that puppy food is too high in protein causing the puppy to have too much extra energy especially if you are not home with the puppy 24/7 running him all the time.  I have had good growth, energy and never had digestion problems with this dog food as I have used others.  But have returned back to this choice being the best.  I give free water from 7am to 7 pm feeding puppies 3 times a day 3/4 cup up to the age of 3months of age increasing to a 1 to 1 1/2 cups 2 times a day.  Water kept down longer in hot weather.

Clean ears with Chlorhexiderm Flush and a cotton ball at least once a month or whenever exposed to water ( swimming or bathing ).  Clean teeth with hydrogen peroxide and a cotton ball once a month.  When older you can use a dog tooth brush diped once in hydrogen peroxide no need for dog tooth paste unless you want too.

If your puppy does get into something he shouldnt have eaten.  I did have a puppy eat a knee high nylon once from my daughters room.  You need to have the puppy vomit it up ONE TEASPOON of hydrogen peroxide up to a tablespoon depending on size of dog will make them vomit.

Clip / Grind nails once a month with a dremel tool w/extra course sand paper drum or large dog nail clippers.  I use the dremel tool and you will never go back to nail clippers again.  It is Great!

Worming has to be done often.  I worm often puppies are born having worms most of the time.  Most common worms found in puppies are Round worms taking a stool sample to your vet costs about $12 and that will determine what kind of worms he has and what they need rid them usually takes a few wormings.  I usually worm at one month ( Pyrantel Pamoate) then 2 wks later again. Wormed again for + round worms at 13 weeks wormed with Drontal.  I usually will sample the stools feeling its worth the $12 check to determine what worms they have then when they are clear of worms.  I have them checked 2 to 3 times a year unless they are having problems.  I do use heartworm preventive every month Heartgard Plus/Ivermectin/Pyrantel combination prevents heartworm and treats and controls ascarid and hookworm in dogs you will need to get weights on the puppy often at first ( a good vet should be able to help you and give you the proper doses during the rapid growth stages.

Another good web site is http://www.ipass.net/wrweber/dominance.html

One tidbit of advise Find good puppy kindergarden classes and obedience classes with the puppy it helps train you to train him.  Gets him to be well socialized and stops problems before they stop.
