a teacher at the school who taught ancient languages once mentioned that the Hebrew word used by Enoch to describe certain angels (I believe it was something like "omron.") means "oval."
Angels may morph into another form when they travel rapidly. Flying saucers?! Speculation, sure. But the Hebrew word does mean "oval."
The account of the 'Watchers' and their giant offspring is told in much greater detail in The Book of Enoch and is ratified in The Book of Jubilees. These books and numerous others were banned by the Council of Laodicea, i.e. the Catholic Church, in the fourth century.
The Book of Enoch was extant centuries before the birth of Christ and yet is considered by many to be more Christian in its theology than Jewish. It was considered scripture by many early Christians.
The earliest literature of the so-called "Church Fathers" is filled with references to this mysterious book. The early second century "Epistle of Barnabus" makes much use of the Book of Enoch.
Second and Third Century "Church Fathers" like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Origin and Clement of Alexandria all make use of the Book of Enoch. Tertullian (160-230 C.E) even called the Book of Enoch "Holy Scripture".
The Ethiopic Church even added the Book of Enoch to its official canon. It was widely known and read the first three centuries after Christ.
This and many other books became discredited after the Council of Laodicea. And being under ban of the authorities, afterwards it gradually passed out of circulation.
The Book of Enoch, an ancient text discovered in Ethiopia in 1773 (and because of references to it in ancient Hebrew writings considered to be among the oldest manuscripts in existence)
speaks about 200 angels who came down to earth to mate with the "daughters of man". Led by a high angel named Azazyel, the angels produced giant men.
During this strange occupation, Enoch writes that humans were taught to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, mirrors, jewelry, paints and dyes, make cosmetics, and use valuable stones.
The people also learned sorcery, use of roots and plants for medicine, astronomy, astrology and other "signs", and the importance of the motion of the celestial bodies.
According to the Book of Enoch, the giants, the children of Anaks were sentenced to roam the earth even after their death. These are called Demons or evil spirits that possess men.
<O:P></O:P>And Azazel taught men ... the metals of the earth and the art of working them ... Semjaza taught enchantments, and root-cuttings ... Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds... (1 En 8:1-3); ...[they] revealed the eternal secrets which were in heaven, which men were striving to learn (1 En 9:6-7). And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin. (1 En 10:8-9).
The Book of Enoch (also called I Enoch) is a collection of writings by various authors which dates to the first or second century B.C. This book was well-known by the early church;
in fact, Jude, the brother of Jesus, quoted Enoch 1:9 in verses 14 and 15 of his epistle. Obviously Jude felt that the Book of Enoch he had access to in the first century was trustworthy.
This work, which survived to our day against great odds, deals extensively with the fall of the angels. It was viewed favorably by some early "Christian" writers also (Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, and others).
However, it was never universally accepted as inspired Scripture. Below is a selection from the Book of Enoch which records the sin of angels:
1 ENOCH 6:1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto 2 them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them,

and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations 5 not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.
' Then sware they all together and bound themselves 6 by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon . . .
