Spencer Carlin

She met the dark, jaded Ashley Davies, practically her opposite, but somehow their friendship turned into a romance. As Spencer figured out that she was gay, it wasn't long before her family did too. Her mom and brother Glen struggled to understand it, but they finally began accept and support her. Now, with the murder of her brother Clay and her relationship with Ashley falling apart, Spencer continues on, hopeful, bright eyed and excited for the possibilities that lie in the future.

Ashley Davies
(Ashley is played by Mandy Musgrave) When Spencer first opened her world to Ashley, the rich, detached daughter of '80s rock royalty, it was Ashley who broadened Spencer's horizon, opening her up to a grittier world, her sexuality and her first love… But as their relationship grew, the tables turned. Ashley, the girl who was always the first to erect walls and deflect emotion with sarcasm, matured and softened through being with Spencer. But you can never fully take the badass out of Ashley Davies, and being with her means knowing that at any moment she can break your heart.

Aiden Dennison
(Aiden is played by Matthew Cohen) He's that guy you fall for hard in high school. Hot, smart and sweet, but with a bad boy gleam in his eye. Only problem is he's a romantic at heart, so when he falls, he falls hard. He was with Ashley, then in a serious relationship with Kyla who cut Aiden down to size and brought out his softer side. But Aiden's torch for Ashley has never gone out, and he's ready to quit denying what his heart tells him.

Glen Carlin
(Glen is played by Chris Hunter) Spencer's older brother, Glen was once a star basketball player and the biggest flirt in school, even dating the head cheerleader, Madison. But after a knee injury derailed him his basketball dreams, Glen didn't know where to turn and started relying on drugs to get through the day. Getting busted finally allowed Glen to see the darkness of where he was heading, and he cleaned himself up. But it's an uphill battle. Glen has to figure out where to direct his energy in a worthwhile way, and he's doing it day by day.

Clay Carlin
(Clay is played by Danso Gordon) A moral compass, through much of the first year at King, Clay was on track for college and a successful life. Then, when his girlfriend Chelsea revealed she was pregnant, that all blew up. Still, he was there to support her, no matter what, and when Spencer came out, Clay stood by her from step one. Clay seemed to have a grip on his out of control life, when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting at the King High prom.

Chelsea Lewis
(Chelsea is played by Aasha Davis) Chelsea is a free spirit, an artist who bravely looks life in the face. She's drawn to people and situations that are true and good, which is why Clay Carlin caught her eye. But life threw a curve ball at Chelsea when she became pregnant and put aside art school in Paris to figure out what step to take next. Clay was determined to keep the baby, but Chelsea struggled with the options. Now with Clay gone, she's forced to face it all on her own.

Madison Duarte
(Madison is played by Valery Ortiz) Madison was the head cheerleader at King, the kind of person who can win you with a compliment then turn on you in an instant. She dated Aiden for a while, then pushed him aside for the new basketball star, Glen. When that ended and she couldn't win Aiden back, she found she suddenly didn't have guys at her beck and call. That combined with her family going broke and the cheerleaders throwing her off the squad, and her life basically imploded. Now Madison's out to reclaim her position as queen bee, and she's determined to do so with style.

Kyla Woods
(Kyla is played by Eileen Boylan) Kyla, Ashley's half sister, spent most of last year trying to win over her sister and deal with her relationship with Aiden. When Aiden confessed that he still loved Ashley moments before the drive-by shooting at prom, Kyla was left heartbroken and without an anchor. Now, with a huge inheritance and the possibility to start a new life, Kyla must decide to either hold on to the fragments of who she thought she was or to start over as a brand new Kyla.

Paula Carlin
(Paula is played by Maeve Quinlan) It was Paula who picked up the family and moved to L.A. taking a lucrative job as a surgeon in the ER. The move created some strain between her and Arthur. She splits her time between the hospital and trying to keep up with the kids' lives, a race she seems to be losing. She wants the world for her kids, but a world that she envisioned, which is why Spencer's relationship with Ashley caused her so much grief. She learned many lessons from Spencer, and now she has to make them stick.

Arthur Carlin
(Arther is played by Rob Moran) He's a family guy who treasures every second he spends with his kids. Back in Ohio, he was considered a hero social worker at his small town counseling center. After moving to L.A. he found himself mired in the crush of big city hostility. In his family's struggle over Spencer's sexuality, Arthur was forced to defend both his daughter and his wife and to take up the challenge of peacemaker. Now, with one of his son's murdered, Arthur has to take up the challenge of holding his family together.
