Grand Lodge/Grand Temple of Ontario Convention
June 6th, 7th and 8th, 2003
WALLACEBURG, Ontario
Grand Chancellor Terry Brodeur and Grand Chief Dorothy Knudsen welcomed all to Wallaceburg. Follwing the Past Grand Chancellors/Chief's Dinner Meetings a Memorial Service was held for our departed Brothers and Sisters.
After a light luncheon at the hall, participants departed for the Kent Room at the Oak's Inn for a night of hospitality before packing it in for the evening.
A Joint Opening Ceremony was held at 9:00 a.m. at the hall. Best Wishes for a productive and harmonious session were exchanged by all before we departed to our separate rooms for our Grand Lodge/Temple Sessions.
A banquet and awards ceremony was held on Saturday evening. Sir Dan Doctor was master of ceremonies. Members from Ontario receiving awards were as follows: Membership Awards - Judaea Lodge # 52 and Jubilee Temple # 12; Proficiency Awards - Charles Masefield and Kim Densmore; Award of Excellence - Douglas McCallum; Pythian of the Year Award - Sandra Symons. Donald "Chip" Gordon was presented a special plaque and medallion by Rokeby Lodge # 9 for his tireless work in the Chatham/Kent community in which they live. He was also presented with a donation towards his Recruit a Doctor Program which he help establish last year. He was proud to report that they have 3 "doctors" enrolled in the program. A popular auction was held before we departed for the evening.
Following our morning Sessions on Sunday, the Joint Installation of Officers took place for both the Grand Lodge and Grand Temple of Ontario. Randy Olah and Ruth Baverstock of Wallaceburg was installed at our newest Grand Chancellor and Grand Chief. They both are looking forward to a successful year as leaders of the Pythian Order in Ontario.
After the installations were complete and pictures taken we all sat down to another wonderful lunch. Once lunch was complete, the draws were held for the Grand Temple of Ontario Ways and Means table. Best wishes and safe journey home were exchange before we departed.
We hope to see everyone again next year and bring a friend!
