Cooking with Basile ENS PRODUCTIONS and BZK PRODUCTIONS Take the top off your blender and toss in half a cup of “cooking show”, a soupcon of reality television and a pinch of sitcom, and the smooth result is “Cooking With Basile" … a cooking show with mass appeal, not snob appeal!  Hosted by world-renowned Greek-American comedian Basile, who grew up with memories of grandparents cooking, Mama's kitchen, and smoky diners, with pie on the counter, grease on the stove, and lots of humour in between. He brings his heritage and his comedy onto the set of “Cooking With Basile” with tasty and hilarious results. Taped in front of a live studio audience, “Cooking With Basile” is as far away from your “snooty, haute cuisine” cooking shows.
Our host will be somewhat sloppy, might occasionally overload the blender, or put something metal in the microwave. Basile, with his wonderful background in comedy, along with cast of character voices and down-home cooking style, will make everybody who watches the show feel like they too can cook without being cordon bleu. Every new episode will have a high profile guest, whether they be chefs or celebrities, who wish to showcase their recent projects while preparing their favorite recipes along with Basile. The interaction between Basile and his guests will highlight the meal as well as play upon the idiosyncrasies of both host and special guests. As well, Basile’s off-camera assistant "Nicolina" will be onboard as his long-suffering straight woman who attempts to keep him on track with ingredients, appliances, and recipes. Another element to this show will be 60-second black and white time capsules that goes back to Basile’s childhood, as he recalls those fond memories surrounding his father’s diner and his grandmother’s kitchen. Also unique to “Cooking With Basile” is the return to the small screen of the live TV commercial. A mainstay during the golden age of television of the 1950s, the live TV commercial, as done by our host, will take the fun in the art of advertising to a whole new level.“Cooking With Basile” will also offer viewers the possibility of visiting www.CookingwithBasile.com, where they can download recipes, coupons and other innovative ideas which will turn the viewer’s kitchen into party central. “Cooking With Basile” is a unique television program that will entertain and tantalize the tastebuds of all age groups, genders, cultures and households, whether they be blue collar, middle class or ivy league. |
