I had a thought today ( yea just one ) that's about all I have these days ( LOL ). It really bugs me as to why there is not more publicity about hep c ? Why the doctors, the media, not to mention the goverment don't do more to educate the non hep c public about this disease? Everyone on the planet knows about aids, smoking, drinking ect. And yet there are over five million Americans with hep c & of course that's not the real number because that is only the number of people that have been tested think about how many are runnin' around with it that don't have a clue ? most of us did not know. That's a scary thought what are the real numbers ? & what are ALL the ways to get it including anything that we 40's to 50's age group would have in common besides drug use & the other things they do tell us about. I will forever be convinced there are other unknowns out there that we all share & have in common. Boosters we got as children, shots, I don't know or claim to know any of this as fact & am not trying to worry anyone this is only my opinion. ( BUT WHY ? ) is it being kept so quiet considering it's bigger & spreading faster than aids ? What are they afraid of ? There must be something that's keeping all the healthcare professionals & goverment agencies quiet? Don't you think it's time we all forced the issue & get it done. I have written politicians & Kay Bailey Hutchison our senator from Texas has responded to me & is a big part along with Ted Kennedy on the new hep c bill. That's a good thing but we need sooooo much more. I'm open to any & all suggestions on how to get the truth out to the masses. Before I leave the planet I want to see & hear the truth being told to the masses about this disease & for as many people to be aware of it as thet are about aids. We owe it to all the generations to come to at least have the facts. I was thinking could it be that since only 1 in 4 people have health insurance & knowing the cost of lab work just to find out if you have it not to mention the cost of treating that they are afraid of the burden it would put on the system if people really knew the facts ? Think about what the expense would be if people started wanting & demanding to be tested ? Not only to the insurance companies but to all the hospitals & health departments involved. And what about the tattoo parlors, nail salons, hair salons, dentists ? If people really knew & understood all the possibilities of transmission it might hurt the economy right ? And yes I know there are good clean dentists, nail salons, tattoo parlors, hair salons etc. & in no way am I trying to say they are the main or only culprit. It's been proven that the hep c virus can live for over a week in the viruside that blue liquid that the hair salons put their combs, scissors, brushes, razors ect to sterilize them so we know that's a possible way of transmission. Just a thought & just an opinion ( MINE )
