An Introduction to the Herts VW Club
The Herts Volkswagen Club was originally formed over 43 years ago, and has been flourishing ever since, due to the dedication and commitment of its members.
The club presently has over 300 members.
We welcome all age groups to the Club, with a variety of vehicles. These include VW, Audi, Porsche, NSU, related kit cars and more…
We meet monthly at the Cricketers Pub in Redbourn, near Harpenden, Hertfordshire (Junction 9, M1), on the second Tuesday of the month from around 8.00pm onwards
Club activities are diverse and have included;
· An annual Club Show ‘n’ Shine during the summer (July)
· Two treasure hunts a year.
· Quiz evenings.
· An annual Club barbecue evening (August)
· Production Car Trials.
· Grass Auto testing.
· Games Evenings (Pool competitions etc.)
· An auction of VW parts and spares.
· A variety of talks on subjects such as round the world sailing, motorway driving, Rally driving, local pubs and World War II bombers.
· Inter-club competitions with other Association member clubs.
· A light hearted day of driving games, held locally.
· Visit to the Knebworth Classic car show/Picnic day.

The Herts Volkswagen Club is also in attendance at the majority of the national meetings around the Country. We often organise a Cruise to the events and usually have a large area set aside for the exclusive use of the Club. At these meetings, the Herts Club members play an active role in any inter-club competitions, as well as organising and manning the Club’s shop, which travels with us to most meetings.

The Herts VW Club is a member of the Association of British VW Clubs.
This is an umbrella organisation under which the member clubs, such as ourselves, can operate independently while still retaining the backing and support of other Association member clubs.
We pay an annual subscription to the Association, which contributes towards advertising over the year, and enables the Association to stage its own annual meeting, VW Expo, held in Kent every year.
Through the Association, club members can benefit from schemes such as cheaper insurance (both motor and household), cheaper ferry crossings and RAC membership discounts. Many local and national VW parts organisations will also offer a discount on production of your club membership card.
The Association itself is represented at the national meetings held throughout the year, either as itself or through many of its member clubs who attend the meetings independently.
More and more clubs are realising the benefits of being part of the Association of British VW Clubs, which is continuing to flourish.
