I Believe - A Doctrinal Statement
I Believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and The Holy Spirit
I believe God to be all knowing, all powerful, and omnipresent. He manifested Himself in Jesus Christ who walked among us, suffered, and shed His blood for the sins of all humanity. Mans relationship with God, which had been broken by the sin of Adam, was now restored for those who would believe and obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I believe that to experience that forgiveness and restored relationship one must repent, with "a broken heart and contrite1 spirit" forsaking all sins, and yielding their heart and life to Christ obeying Him above all. Without obedience there can be no Salvation. To believe is to "DO" and anyone who makes no obvious attempt to obey the commands of Jesus Christ is still dead in sins and trespasses.
(Psalms 34:18; 51:17; Matthew 1:23; Luke 3:8; I Corinthians 8:6; Romans 2:8; II Thessalonians 1:8; I Timothy 6:13-16; Hebrews 3:14; 5:9; James 2:20, 26; I Peter 4:17; I John 1:7; Revelation 22:14 )
[To those Pastors and lay persons alike who have written to tell me that I serve a different Jesus than they do because I believe in obedience. To them I simply say "What does the Word of God say?" READ THE BOOK!]
I Believe That Christ Rose From The Dead
I believe that Jesus Christ was dead and buried in a tomb and that bodily He was resurrected by the Father, that He again walked the earth and was seen by multitudes of people, and by over five hundred at one time. I believe He rose bodily into Heaven where He now resides on the right hand of the Father, where He, and He alone, makes intercession for those who are His.
(Romans 8:34; I Corinthians 15:6; Galatians 1:1; Mark 16:19; Acts 7:55-56; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 7:25).
I Believe The Bible to be the Word of God put down in written form by men who were Inspired by God.
I believe God has preserved perfectly His Words for us today in the King James Bible which was taken from pure and untainted manuscripts, and translated by Godly men. I believe once any manuscripts are changed or deviated from, the resulting work ceases to be the Word of God and that many of the translations of today are based upon these corrupted manuscripts and works. Therefore, I must reject all English Translations other than the King James Bible of 1611 and it's subsequent Grammar and spelling changes and encourage others to do so as well.2
(Psalms 119:160; II Timothy 3:16; Revelation 22:18-19; Also, the unbiased facts of history support this fact, for those willing to seek the truth.)
I Believe the Bible is the final authority and nothing supersedes it, not even "new revelation" or "prophecy." Anything that does not line up with, and is not verifiable by the written Word of God, known as the King James Bible, then it is NOT of God and has no place in the Church or with the Believer.
I Believe in Living a Holy Life both inwardly and outwardly
I believe Christians are not to emulate the world or chase after the world's pleasures and pass times, we are to be "a peculiar people," only because as Christians, we ARE different. I believe part of living a holy life includes a guard on our thoughts, our words and our deeds. Regular Bible reading, prayer and praise with thanksgiving and leading a quiet and obedient life are essential if the Christian is to be obedient and equipped to do the Lords work.
(Romans 11:16; 12:1-2; 14:17; I Corinthians 5:9-13; I Thessalonians 4:11; I Timothy 2:1-3; IPeter 1:15-16; I Peter 2:9; I Peter 3:4; I Peter 4:1-7; II Peter 3:10-14).
I Believe That The Church is made up of God's people.
I believe only those who have been born again by the Word of God, through faith and obedience to Christ and all that He commands, regardless of their denominational affiliation, or lack of, make up Christ's Church. I believe that to reject any part of the Gospel is to reject it all, and therefore is a rejection of Jesus Christ and brings the full consequences of that rejection.
(I Corinthians 1:2; Hebrews 5:9; John 3:3; I Peter 1:23
1 Contrite - 1. Broken down with sorrow for sin; humbly and thoroughly penitent. 2. Proceeding from sincere repentance. (Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary 1951).
2 There is enough truth in all "Bible" versions (to date) in order for someone to be saved. But once we are saved and our eyes are opened, God expects us to grow in truth
