About A Great American

John D. Fry

John D. Fry was one of two of my Chung-Si (Lineage Successors) in Tzu Jan Gung Fu (the other is Jonny Gallardo).  He and his sister Laura Fry began studying under me in Waco, Texas.  After two years of training  they both advanced to Red Sash levels and were Apprentice Instructor Levels.  John was a walking sponge, he could learn and emulate anything I showed him.  He was especially adept in Grappling and was intrigued with the Silat methodology of training.  His stick work was top notch and his knife fighting skills were way up to par.  He was the quintessential martial artist.

John shortly afterwards graduated from school got married to High School sweetheart, Malia, and went into the Marine Corp.  I have always understood his moving on to his calling in the military and I believe I had an influence on him as we spoke about my past experiences in the Army.  I will always be proud of John Fry.  He will always be a legend in his own time both in the Martial Arts and in the Marine Corp.   -Jonathan E. To The Fry Family- I first must say how proud I have always have been of John. He always showed courage, tenacity, and lived by a superb code of honor and integrity. He was one of the brightest and kindest young men that I have ever known or ever will know. My heart was broken to hear of John's death, yet due to the life he lived he remains in our hearts forever.
My deepest condolences to your family, John's wife, and children, and to all the friends and military brothers that can no longer be graced by his authentic presence. John cared about everybody he met and I am sure touched more lives than we will ever know.
He was once my student in the martial arts and so quickly grasped the premise and structure of what I taught- that I appointed him as the man to succeed me. He has done more than that- he succeeded in all areas of life and has brought the deepest level of honor to his loved ones and his country that he ever could. He will be missed. - Love from the deepest part of my heart,
Jonathan E. Kiser
