THE DREAMING WORKSHOPS For Schools and youth groups.

NOW available in UK and Portugal call or email for more details and dates

Australian Aboriginal Culture, Music, Art and Storytelling are among the things involved in our dreaming workshops. A set of workshops designed for Schools, Youth Organisations and Community Groups.

TYPICAL REFERENCE

We were fortunate to have first worked with Steve 4 years ago, during the first of our kaleidoscope festivals of music and multi-cultural arts. Since that time he has been a regular fixture on our programme. His stories, performances and workshops have enthralled the children, offering a range of first hand experiences for all ages. As a virtuoso of the didg he has never failed to impress.

The workshops are appropriate for all ages including the youngest. In fact our nursery children were fascinated and enthusiastic in the follow up workshops. Steve has a good style of addressing children and holds their attention at the same time as inviting participation and response a thoroughly worthwhile experience and highly recommended.

A CROSS-CURRICULAR RESOURCE

To the Australian Aborigines the DREAMTIME is as real as our world of waking consciousness is to us. The phrase dreamtime is used to refer to a time & place where the cosmos was given shape and meaning.

The dreaming workshops are a powerful set of stories, beliefs and relationships, collected from Aboriginal peoples across Australia. Each workshop contains a beautifully animated story on video (up to 9 different story's 5-15min each) didgeridoo performances, make and play your own didg activities and fun worksheets. Didgeridoos for the pupils to decorate and keep will be provided .

The dreaming stories explain how the world came to be the way it is. It links people with landscape, flora and fauna, and gives them a sense of identity and purpose.

The range of activities suggested in the workshops, cover and support the full curriculum. We provide reading; writing and discussion activities specifically designed to provide follow up for the whole viewing class.

We can provide kid's Didj's, activitity & background sheets on Aboriginal culture and heritage, Australian animals, Bush-Tucker and Aboriginal Art for teacher’s use. We also provide access to some of the very best examples of hand painted Aboriginal Art, Boomerangs and Didgeridoos in the country.

Many people around the world are now realising, that Aboriginal Culture is a unique achievement, which should be respected and valued. The wisdom and effectiveness of the Aboriginal life style have stood the test of time, and holds many valuable lessons for the entire human race. Especially now when the environment and the family are such important issues. The messages in the dreaming are sometimes happy, sometimes sad but always wise and are as relevant today as they have been throughout Aboriginal history. Follow up workshops are always popular and growing in demand so book early to avoid disappointment.

We also offer Art Based Workshops including ModRoc Mask making (pics soon) AND Exploring Music/Sound  Workshops where students can make their own Saxaphone.
