|  | |  | Chris Parnell – now in his sixth season -- has appeared in numerous sketches and commercial parodies and performed memorable impressions of NBC News’ Tom Brokaw and PBS newsman Jim Lehrer in the headline-making debate sketches during the 2000 Presidential election. In addition, last season Parnell added Sen. Joe Lieberman to his repertoire, appearing in a hot tub with former Vice President Al Gore in a “Bachelor” parody about his selection process for running mate. Other notable impressions include Tom Hanks, Eminem, “American Idol’s” Simon Cowell and Senator John McCain.
He portrays memorable characters, such as Sean DeMarco, dancer wannabe and devoted brother to Kyle (played by Chris Kattan); and barfly Wayne Bloater, who along with brother Kip (Jimmy Fallon). Parnell has also performed unforgettable hardcore raps fantasizing about a dream date with hosts Britney Spears and Kirsten Dunst on “Weekend Update.”
Parnell will soon be seen opposite Will Ferrell in the upcoming feature “Anchorman” and was featured in the SNL Studios feature “The Ladies Man” as well as “Down with Love” He has made television appearances on NBC’s “Friends” “Ed” and “Seinfeld” as well as “Murphy Brown” among others.
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Parnell received his B.F.A. in Drama from North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. He has performed with the Berkshire Theatre festival in Stockbridge, MA, the Alley Theatre in Houston, TX and with Los Angeles-based improv/sketch comedy group The Groundlings where former castmates Will Ferrell, Ana Gasteyer and Chris Kattan as well as former cast members Laraine Newman, Phil Hartman and Jon Lovitz began their careers.
Parnell lives in New York City. His birthday is February 5.
