The Great Master In 2003, Master Hu Wei Yue was proclaimed Dashi (Great Master) by the United States Koushu Federation. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to study with Master Hu Wei Yue as he proudly carries on the traditions of Chinese Internal Martial Arts. This site is a casual record of events with the new generation of diciples. Gr. Master Hu came to the United States in 1985. His Yang style Tai Chi Chuan teachers were Bai Bing-ru and Hua Chun-rong. Bai, a very famous woman in China, learned directly from Yang Cheng-fu and from Ye Da-mi. Hua learned from Cheng Man-ching, who learned from Yang Cheng-fu. Master Hu's Yang style is therefore two generations removed from Yang Cheng-fu and is highly orthodox. Similarly, he is closely linked to the famous Sun Lu Tang in Bagua and Xingyi by learning from Hua Chun-rong. Hua was master of the guards of a province in China and learned directly from Sun Cun-zhou, Sun Lu-tang's son. "It is rare to have the chance to learn these arts at all, and particularly so from a high-level educator and direct lineage of the origionators. Master Hu, over 78 years of age, is also an energetic example of what these arts, correctly practiced, have to offer the individual". As stated by Master Will Duncan. Gr. Master has put many combinations of his known styles into new routines. Tai-ji/Bagua is a creation that several students have preformed in tournaments and won awards. Students that learn his "very traditional" Tai Chi, Xingyi and Bagua forms have also brought awards. He has also shared some traditional ways to better health by developing a plan for senior style tai-ji sitting or standing in one place. Gr. Master Hu teaches in the Cleveland area. |
