| Frequently Asked Questions What is I.M.R.R.? IMRR is short for Interracial Multicultural Romance Readers. It’s an online community created for the readers and writers of romance that focus not only on African American on heroes and heroines, but heroes and heroines from diverse cultures, nationalities and races. Why was this group started? IMRR was created as an online gathering place for those interested in discussing and writing romance (and mainstream fiction) novels that in many cases reflected their lives. What is considered an interracial/multicultural romance? While most people (in the USA) consider an interracial romance to be one that involves either an African-American hero or heroine and a love interest of another culture or race, interracial romance novels in all honesty covers a much wider spectrum. However, as far as most publishers are concerned, Interracial Romance involves a African-American Female (or Male) and a Caucasian Male (or Female) Interracial romance novels plain and simply focuses on two people from different cultures, nationalities, and/or races. What are the rules about posting topics? As long as you keep it clean (no profanity, nudity or pornography...please don’t make a sistah go off on you!) and don’t duplicate the topics, "it’s all good!" Can I post a review of a book I liked? All reviews for books are to be sent to IMRR Management for consideration at the following email address: interracial_multiculturalromancereaders@hotmail.com As a published author am I allowed to post an announcement about my new book? Although, we LOVE announcements that keep the readers informed, in an interest to assure that announcements and such from authors don’t get lost on the boards, IMRR Management requires that all announcements are sent to the following email address for posting on the IMRR Announcement Page: interracial_multiculturalromancereaders@hotmail.com . As an employee of a publishing company can I post an announcement regarding books? Of course you can. But if you’d like your annoucement to be placed on the announcement page where it can be easily located, emailed IMRR Management and we’ll be sure to post it there. Can I post non-romance book events here? Being that we’re a group focused on books, in regards to event announcements, we prefer that all events announced on the boards concern writing, books or author updates. Can I post and excerpt of my published book here? No. But you can start a discussion on it and post a link to your excerpt. Can you help me get published? Don’t we WISH! But, we do have a ever growing number of authors as members that are more than willing to answer your questions regarding writing romance and how to get published. Do you arrange meetings with editors/agents? No, we don’t. Can I talk about something other than books? Of course you can! In fact, we have a board (Variety Society) devoted specifically to non-writing/book related topics. Can I post current event items for discussion? Yes, please do. As much as we’d all love to do nothing but read all day long, we do live in a real world where all the "action is." So, of course we can discuss current events. Do you do chats and what type of subjects do you have? Although we don’t have regularly scheduled chats, we do upon occasion meet in the chat room. Our topics cover the spectrum, so be on the lookout for chat announcements! Can anyone join IMRR? Anyone can join if they apply and respond to our brief email application. Why can't/couldn't I just join - why did I have to be approved? IMRR’s approval "process" such as it is, was created to weed out spammers and those individuals looking for love rather than a good book. The use of our brief membership questionnaire (only 3 little questions) serves two purposes. 1.) It verifies that you have an active email address. and 2.) Your answering the questionnaire tells us what types of books you’re interested in and what authors we very well may need to pay closer attention to. What's up with RICH Writers and why have you closed down membership? While RICH Writer's is still a functioning group, every member is currently under deadlines to the point that we're unable to take on new members currently. Once everyone's breathing a sigh of relief and no longer under the BIG guns, membership will reopen. However, if you think you're the next Sandra Kitt, Bridget Midway or J. J. Murray and that you can carry your weight and more....BRING IT! And convince the moderators of RICH that you need in now rather than three months (late August 2008) from now when membership will reopen. |
