Hostel Owners Page
Site information for hostel owners -
Latest Revision April 2008
This interactive hostel association is for hostel users, hostel owners and providers of services to the Irish hostel network. Certain parts of this site are designed especially for the benefit of hostel owners. They show the kind of range of information and services that a hostel site can offer -
If you join the site as a member you can -
Post messages on any of the message boards in the Interactive Hostel Association part of the site.
Post Pictures on the Pictures page - please create a new folder for your pictures rather than just put them in the general folder.
Some message boards are specially geared to Hostel Owners/managers - you can:
Post hostel jobs etc on the Hostel Jobs Page.
Post parties Bar Be Ques, special weekends & special offers etc on the Hostel Events message board.
Post local events, festivals etc on the General Message Board
And get involved in ongoing discussions on other message boards
Every hostel in Ireland can have an entry in the Hostel Link pages subject to it being up to a basic standard. I have kept the Hostel Link page entries simple. Wherever possible I have put a link to each hostel's web site so that site users can click on the link and get the most up to date information that you the hostel owners are providing.
I link to the Hostel's own website if there is one - if not -
I link to the Hostel Association's website for the hostel
If a hostel has neither website or Hostel Association I put a few basic pieces of information on the links page and an email address if the hostel has one.
I list all hostels names, addresses and telephone numbers.
I would like to add Pictures of each hostel - I am taking pictures of hostels as I tour round Ireland - if hostel owners want to send a picture of their hostel as a Jpeg or bitmap file I can use that.
Why not more hostel Information on site? Firstly - as I have stated above it is best to provide links to hostel's own websites which are likely to have the most up to date information. Also, I want to give people who are interested in coming to Ireland the information they need to actually decide to come. This isn't just Hostel List type information. For this reason the Site is balanced between hostel information, information on what to do in Ireland, information on what 21st century reland is like and ALL IMPORTANTLY information on how to get to Ireland and travel around it. I find that many people want to have a hostelling holiday in Ireland. Then they go to the travel agents and find that its so much easier to book a package holiday somewhere else. This site makes it easier to choose the hostelling option - all the information you need is just a few clicks away.
The site has a free pdf file of all the hostels to download. This has more information. To ensure that information on your hostel is accurate download a copy (you need to join the site) and check it. Email me at
hostelireland@msn.com with any corrections. Unlike with Hostel Association Leaflets you won't have to wait till next year for the corrections to be made. It will happen with 2 months on site.
I encourage you to join the site. If you have important new information on your hostel post it as a message on site. Anything from new developments to a new phone number, email adress, website etc. Relevant information will be transferred to Hostel Link pages.
You will find that you cannot add information yourself to any of the pages in the Hostel Guidebook, Making That Trip or Ireland in the 21st Century parts of the site. This is because I take responsibility for any changes or additions to these pages. However if you have any suggestions - for example for additions to Guide pages or transport services I have missed out - post the details in a message and the information can be tranferred to the relevant pages, subject to, for instance, there being enough space (each page has a storage limit).
I envisage most contact between myself and hostel owners happening by email . I can contact hostel owners landline phones, but I cannot contact mobile numbers, as this is too expensive.
