Well the New Year is here. Time for those New Year resolutions. The time for a new beginning. A new beginning is not always easy. You will need help. I’m going to tell you about a man that has all the answers. You have to trust Him and turn all your problems over to Him. I’m sure you know who I’m talking about. If you haven’t guessed, His name is Jesus. The problem solver.
We all have problems. Some of us seem to have more and bigger ones than others. Sometimes it seems like it’s one problem after another. You take care of one and up pops another. If you take a look around I’ll bet you will find someone with a bigger problem than yours. It’s like the man complaining about having no shoes and then he saw a man with no feet ! I don’t know about you but I thank God everyday as I feel very blessed.
I’ll tell you a little story, not for you to feel sorry for me but to make a point and to show you why I feel blessed as my life was not an easy one.
I grew up in Knoxville, Tn. very poor as my dad died with Tuberculosis when I was nine years old and mom had epilepsy. Dad was sick for a number of years. I was passed from one to another. I can remember not being able to study in school because I was so hungry. I could smell the food cooking in the school cafeteria. I always seemed to be hungry!
At the beginning of the school year I got two polo shirts and two pair of jeans from the Five and Dime store. I guess the Dollar Store has replaced the Five and Dime.
For those of you that don’t know, a polo shirt is a glorified T- shirt. I got my shoes around December for the school year. The rest of the time I went barefoot.
A lot of things have happened in my life through the years and It would take a book to tell my story but that is another story later.
I was taught about Jesus and as the years passed I learned what Jesus will do for you if you are obedient. This is where New Beginnings came in. I was saved when I was 17 but strayed. I rededicated my life to God and His work in 1994. “A New Beginning”.
I believe I was being prepared all through my life for the work God had for me to do today.
Ask Jesus to lead, guide and direct you in all you say and do.
We all have things in our lives we need to change. None of us are perfect.
One of the things I see a lot of is judging our fellow man. Matthew, chapter seven, verse one “Judge not, that ye be not judged”. A lot of times people only see what they want to see. Try looking at the inner person and get to know them.
What will you do this year to make a new beginning? Could it be you will strive to be a better person, give more time to the Lord? You know sometimes doing what we think is a small thing, is a big thing to someone else. It could be a smile or a kind word. You never know what will get someone through the day.
It is never to late for “A New Beginning”.
Jesus is the answer.
Until next time stay in Gods care
