Kart racing at

Heysham Head

Our very own Tony Hesketh back on a starkart after twenty years !

2006 at Shenington revival Meeting

Did you Race, Marshall or spectate at Heysham Head track in the Sixties or Seventies or even the early Eighties ? Or were you a member of Morecambe and Heysham Kart Club ?

This site was started to provide a place on the internet for memories and photographs of the much loved track...Please join the group and feel free to post your old snaps or anything connected with karting at Heysham Head.

It would also be nice to see some photos of the New Heysham Head pleasure resort as this was an integral part of the experience of the cliff-top 100MPH kart track....

All Karting fans welcome

1968 World Cup meeting

Many thanks to Ronnie, (Who marshalled there from the very early days of the first World Cup meetings, right through to the penultimate year of Karting at Heysham) for the B/W pics (There are many more in the albums!)

"The Sixties leisure complex at Heysham Head was yards from the centre of Heysham village and race days were noisy and exciting to fans of Kart racing like myself but not unfortunately the Locals who were having their Sunday morning lie-in ruined monthly !

As a young teenager I would regularly make the bus trip to this sixties Karting Mecca and the Karts could be heard practising for miles, in those heady days the seaside resort of Morecambe was buzzing and even Heysham village with its brass beam weighing scales and nettle beer was a hive of activity especially during the International World Cup event that I witnessed when every postage stamp sized piece of grass had a tent affixed.

This is the place to share those old Karting photos and memories!

We need your Heysham karting photo for this site!!
