Dave & Nicky's Investigation
Private Residence, Dover

Premises: 101 year old mid terraced house in busy residential street in Dover. Previous to that, the area was unmined farmland.
History: Current occupants (known from now as ‘S’ & ‘L’) have lived in house for the past 5 years. As soon as they viewed the house they felt drawn to it and feel that it had, and still has, a warm comfortable atmosphere. They have done extensive work on the premises, replacing floors, walls etc over this period of time. However, an original brick wall dividing the front rooms was removed before their time. The only original brickwork is a fireplace in the front room.
Activity: Shortly after they moved in they purchased 2 kittens. Soon after that, both kittens began to react to some unseen presence in the lounge area, mainly at the bottom of the stairs. They would both be staring at something then suddenly arch their backs, hiss, go flat on their stomachs and run out of the room and out the house. This still occurs reasonably frequently. The cats are very placid and love attention (we can back up that fact) and so this behaviour is totally out of character. One of the cats to this day will act as if the dividing wall downstairs is still there and will walk down either side of the room, but never down the middle (witnessed by ourselves).
Approximately 2 years ago S & L were woken at 2am by the voice of a little boy calling ‘Mummy’ Both heard it and felt it came from directly outside the house, but could see nothing when they looked out. Voice was not distressed or upset and was quite gentle and very clear. No families in immediate area with children of equivalent age.
Seem to have trouble with electrical appliances, more than the norm. TV suddenly blew up, telephone stopped working for no reason, kettle and toaster had to be replaced. Downstairs light bulbs seem to need changing more than normal and plants die very quickly downstairs.
Activity increased since Xmas. S & L purchased digital camera and took various pictures of the house in order to show their renovations. On a majority of pictures and at differing locations, light anomalies were appearing of various shapes, sizes and intensity. S & L thought that the camera was faulty and took it back to shop where it was examined and found to be fine. S’s father died early 2003 and activity seemed to increase. S was at home alone one early evening in lounge when noises started on their bedroom floor directly above where she was sitting. Stated that she thought it was the cats fighting, which had never happened before, so she rushed up there and found nothing. There was only 1 cat indoors and S found that in a different room. This really freaked out S as it could not be explained and orb pics were still appearing.
S&L also heard scratching noises from behind tiles on a bathroom wall. Cat was also very interested by this. Unable to locate the source of this noise.
Also have heard dull thuds above kitchen that would be their spare room.
One night, early hours, S awoke and became aware of a man standing by her bed holding her hand. Was very aware of the physical sensation of a male hand holding hers. Felt very comforted by this and believed that it was her partner until she realised that he was asleep in bed next to her.
On another occasion, L went for a shower and was sure that he took his watch off and left it on a shelf in the bathroom. When he later went to get it, the watch had vanished. They both thoroughly searched the house and there was no sign of it at all.
Some 2-3 weeks later, L, who is a part time lifeboat crew - member at Dover went to the lifeboat station that is approximately 1 mile from their house. He was putting on his waterproofs, felt something in the pocket and there was his watch. L was totally at a loss as to how it got there as he never brings his waterproofs home and he was adamant that he left the watch in the bathroom at home. Through questioning S & L, it transpires that S’s Dad was a prankster and was also very proud of L’s association with the lifeboat service and loved the sea. They never actually made this connection themselves; it was just an issue that came to light whilst chatting. Hiding something in that fashion was apparently quite typical of the sort of thing S’s Dad would have done.
The orb activity seemed to increase, with them continuing to appear on not only their camera, but also L’s father’s camera at locations all over the house apart from the kitchen. This culminated in S becoming very uneasy with being in the house on her own and deciding that they would have to move house.
The Preliminary Investigation:
Date: 17th June 2003
Time: 7.45pm – 11.pm
Decided on a very low- key approach owing to S’s disposition.
Equipment: EMF, therm gun, recording device, digital camera.
Trigger object, pencil & paper and recorder placed in spare room where activity currently thought to be centred.
Then spent next 45 – 60 mins interviewing S & L.
Following that took EMF readings in downstairs area. Slightly raised readings at bottom of staircase in one particular spot. Took pictures of downstairs area with digital camera – no anomalies.
Went back to upstairs spare room. Trigger object had not moved. Nothing written on paper.
More pictures taken in this room – no anomalies. Checked out their orb photos on the computer.
Nicky and myself then went back downstairs and felt a very noticeable temperature drop as we went down. In front room, it was now quite cold despite the fact that it was a warm evening and had been 26 degrees shortly before. Checked with S & L, temperature in this room is usually consistent and not subject to such dramatic changes.
Later on I suggested to L that he take some pictures with his camera, as it was apparent that he was a pretty good orb catcher. Nothing until he took picture of us at bottom of stairs. When he checked the picture on the viewfinder, he told me that there was a white line on it and was about to delete it when I stopped him. Downloaded the picture onto his computer that revealed the vortex by Nicky. Immediately took another picture of same area with my camera – nothing. L did the same – negative result.
S was becoming a bit unnerved by events. Decided to call it a night. I took one more photo with my camera of Nicky, S & L that revealed the light anomaly above Nicky’s head.
Summary
Whatever is going on in the house I do not believe is negative. S & L were immediately attracted to the property and the potential new occupants felt exactly the same way when they first viewed the property. Nicky didn’t pick up anything of relevance although at one point, when sitting in the front room chatting, she thought that she was prodded gently in her side.
When I reviewed the recording made in the spare room some days later, it picked up us talking quietly downstairs, but also a sudden and louder interruption by another voice with an accent. I have made enquiries with L & S who cannot shed any light on any possible cause and so far I am unable to determine the voice’s origin.
I have the feeling that we will be back there before they move, so watch this space.
