The Pros & Cons of Modern Day Beatlemaia!
Please do not copy any text or original work from this site without permission.

A list of the advantages and disadvantages of being a Beatlemaniac long after Beatlemania!
(Submitted by members of Kerry's Beatles/Paul McCartney Site - but anyone may contribute.  See bottom of page.)

Okay okay... we all realize that there's a few quite major disadvantages of being a modern day Beatlemaniac... But don't feel too badly! There's loads of positives, too!

1. You don't have to wait for the next single/album to come out - they are all available right now. (Kerry)

2. Sure you could go see them perform live, but you could not hear them over the screaming fans.  (Trini)

3. Can visit their childhood homes without their families still living there (Trini)

4. Didn't have to watch the Beatles slowly dissolve and separate towards the end.  (Trini)

5. Didn't have to watch  people burn their records during the "More popular than Jesus" ordeal. (Trini)

6. Get to listen to Beatles music on cd instead of with records and transistor radios. (Trini)

7. There was no such thing as VCR's so you couldn't tape their shows or buy their movies.   (Trini) {I remember I taped their shows on a tape recorder!}  Thanks to technology - we can watch the Beatles on VHS/DVD any time we want. (Kerry)  {sort of the same thing - so I put them together}

8. Don't have to endure the trauma of watching each Beatle get married one by one (Trini)

9. You know better than to believe the "Paul is dead" rumor.  (Trini)

10. We have the Internet to help us meet and communicate with other Beatlemaniacs! (Kerry)

11. An advantage is all the great solo albums! (Squaw)

12. New fans have the excitement of re-discovering an old band who are responsible for influencing so much of what we hear and see today; who's music is timeless and has practically become part of our genetic make-up.  (Squaw/Kerry)

13. Not getting old and missing all those fantastic Beatle-years. (Beatlehead)

Okay, apart from the obvious.. we weren't around to experience it first time!.. there are a few disadvantages that the original lot of Beatlemaniacs didn't have to deal with!!

1. You will never have the chance to see The Beatles perform live. (Kerry)

2. Could join Beatle Fan Club and receive memorabilia which are now worth a lot of $ and near impossible to find.  (Trini)

3. Could write to them and receive an answer! (Trini)

4. The anticipation of hearing their next new album & the new and exciting things they would come up with.  (Trini & Dr. Robert)

5. They were young, vivacious, fresh, youthful......Whew! it's getting hot in here...I better stop there.  (Trini)

6. The original Cavern Club was still around.  (Trini)

7. Could write to Apple to submit your talent (if you had one).  (Trini)

8. Could get all 4 of their autographs for FREE!  (Trini)

9. Got to watch the Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan show and on other t.v. appearance which are now lost in the archives. (Trini)

10. Their records only cost a few dollars.  (Trini)

11. Could bring your 8mm video camera or still photos camera to their concerts and take all the pictures you wanted!  Smile boys!! (Trini)

12. You can't live through the era which was such an influential part of The Beatles music. (Dr Robert)

13. You had to endure the pain of losing 2 of the Beatles, and only have 2 remaining Beatles to look forward to releasing new music.  (Squaw & Dr. Robert)

14. You had to joy and excitement of discovering a brand new band with a brand new sound and brand new views on lie and the world! (Squaw)

15. Not knowing what the Beatles could have achieved in today's technology. (Beatlehead)

So - what do you think?  Have any more you'd like to add?  Email me using the link below and I will add yours to the list (and give you credit, of course).  Let's see if we can make the advantages out weigh the disadvantages!
