KingdomChinchillas established 1991. Aileen Cook this groups was started in May 2001 Natural Habitat Of a Chinchilla A word of warning to all chinnie owners I thought I would add a pic show a chinchilla's natural habitat. I hope this will make owners think first, before feeding on a soft and unsuitable diet. In the pic below you will be able to click to the link showing a pic of the barren land a chinchilla's ancestors came from. There you will see no grape vines, no exotic juicy fruit trees, no sweet sticky date palms, no banana trees. All you will see is cacti, dried grass, dried seed pods. Chinchillas in the wild even get water from the cactus plants by gnawing at the tough roots and bark. Please think carefully about introducing your chinchilla to a soft diet. you are opening the door to all sorts of tooth problems, digestive problems and fatalities. A friend of one of our regular posters to the board had a holiday in the Andes. Guess what she sent a picture of while there see here I can't believe she saw THEM.....!!!
