Help:
You are welcome to look around our community website without joining or signing-in. But you will not be able to post new messages or access the members' areas unless you do.

You will be very welcome; we will respect your privacy and anonymity; and it's FREE!

But please read and understand the MSN Groups Code of Conduct that sets the rules and guidelines for on-line behaviour while signed in to an MSN group. The Code of Conduct is designed to promote an enjoyable and productive on-line experience for all our users and to help protect against inappropriate content.

(It is an MSN requirement that anyone attempting to join a group read and accept the terms of the Code of Conduct.)

Who we are.

The Kings Clipstone Community website is owned and controlled by the Microsoft subsidiary MSN Groups and operated on their behalf by a manager and assistant managers who are responsible to them for ensuring that all content complies with their Code of Conduct.

This will normally be interpreted as encouraging open, uncensored discussion and free speech between participants with an interest in Kings Clipstone, be they residents or not, provided they avoid personal insults and profanity. But their decisions may be questioned at any time by members or others - by email to the managers in the first instance requesting a review of the issue, and then through MSN Groups's formal complaints procedure if you aren't happy with their decision.

The ultimate arbiter is Microsoft Luxembourg S.à.r.l., 20 Rue Eugene Ruppert, Immeuble Laccolith, 1st Floor, L-2543 Luxembourg, and the laws of Luxembourg govern the interpretation of this contract and apply to claims for breach of it, regardless of conflict of laws principles. All other claims, including claims regarding consumer protection laws, unfair competition laws, and in tort, will be subject to the laws of the country to which we direct your service. You and we irrevocably agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the Luxembourg courts for all disputes arising out of or relating to this contract.

How to join.

  1. Click on "Join Now" at the top of What's New and follow the prompts.
  2. MSN's security system requires you to sign in via a .NET passport but you can apply for one using your existing email address rather than the default link that will set up a new Hotmail address that you probably don't need.
  3. Sign in and post a hello message on "Saying Hello" to confirm that the system is working for you.

We encourage members to choose a nickname that is their house name or a short abbreviation of their real names, but you are free to pick any name you like, provided it is inoffensive and is not a website address.

Do not include commas or any other special characters as these can sometimes prevent
you from signing-in and posting. And do not forget the email address and password you used
because you will only be able to log in again using the same ones.

Anti-Spamming Precautions

Membership applications are approved automatically but messages from new members are moderated to block inappropriate contributions and site vandalism.

So please ensure that you have:

  • Opted to include a valid email address in your profile, or
  • Emailed the manager at KingsClipstone@aol.com so that he can welcome you personally.

All email addresses are tested via WHOIS and any attempt to join using a spurious one will be blocked permanently.

All members' addresses are confidential and will only ever be used for that purpose or for occasional general announcements so you need have no fear that any spam will result.

We hope you will also introduce yourself with a brief personal profile on our "Saying hello" messageboard and posting a few words about yourself and where you live. But there is no obligation to do so if you prefer not to.

Promotion of members' websites and businesses is welcome there too, and in profiles, with links and photos if you want, but please take care to ensure that everything is in good taste. And please DO NOT promote other websites on any other messageboard, beyond inclusion of a hyperlink to it below your signature in the style shown at the bottom of this page.

You can opt to have every message, summaries of activity here and other news delivered to your email in-box if you find that easier than logging in. Just make the selection you prefer by clicking on "View my member profile" and checking the appropriate boxes. If you just want to monitor response to a particular discussion then click on the envelope icon at the top of the message page and check the options there. But email message-delivery is often slow so be warned!

Remember, you must create a Passport before you can access any MSN Group, but you must sign out of any other Passport sites, such as Hotmail, before you try to sign in here.

How to post:

MSN's editor on this site does not support Microsoft Word format codes so please do not attempt to copy/paste from a .doc file. Just 'save as' a Rich Text (.rtf) or basic Text (.txt) file instead and copy/paste from there. (Or insert a screen capture if the layout and colour graphics are critical.)

It does not include a spell checker either but a quick download of http://www.iespell.com/download.php will add a good one to any version of Internet Explorer, including AOL - and early versions of Firefox, but only if you have the IeTab extension and use it. (Firefox 3 has an integral spell checker that works well with the MSN Editor.)

Please note that posts cannot be edited after sending so please double check everything before it's too late!

I look forward to welcoming you on the site.

David Ling - Manager and webmaster.
Wild Wood.
