Notes: Originally built for the Canadian National RR as an M420 with a wide cab, it could also be called a M420W. The unit was retired from the CN roster in 1996. Sold to the LSRC in June / July of 1998 along with an HR412, making it one of the newer additions to the Lake State Railway's Roster. This unit is keeping with the D and M tradition of numbering locomotives for the month and year of acquisition and is also an ALCO counterpart, utilizing the same prime mover and GE electrical components as the familiar C425M. Note the attractive bell mounted on the face of the unit, a popular Canadian practice. Don't be fooled by its Canadian Cab, this unit also has the classic ALCO trademarks of smoke, sound, and a dependable workhorse!
