Welcome To Our Website

Anyone researching "orphan" members of the Crowe and Layman Families of Western Maryland is welcome to join us in our sleuthing.

Our concentration is on those not-very-well-documented family members. These are "our orphans", because we need to find their parents and connect them to the rest of the families.

Please be aware, that much of the information we gather, is undocumented and not proven. Thus the data should ONLY be used as leads, not actual fact. Where documentation is available, we will provide it or its source. You should always verify any information you find before accepting it. There is a lot of data that has been 'generally accepted' as being fact which we will present on this site. Whatever we find to substantiate that information will be added, to aid you in your research.

In climbing through family trees, we have come across many inconsistencies in the "generally accepted" family lines which we would like to resolve. We don't want to accept "John Doe was the father of Jane Doe" when he was only 8 yrs. old at the time of her birth. Or a death listed as Oct. 15,1850 when the wife is already found to be a widow in the census taken in June of 1850.

So join us in our pursuit of these pioneer families of Allegany and Garrett Counties (Maryland) and we'll help each other in giving them their rightful place in their family histories.
