I have all of her books and although i have a couple unread it wont be long before i have devoured them all. Shes a wonderful writer, dealing with women as the main charachter and the trials they face in different situations. Ones released from Prison after a murder sentence.. One looses her domineering husband to jail and becomes stronger than him... !

All nine of her novels are totally adictive and deal with the underworld of violent mobs and gangs.. oooo must read!!!

I know, I know, you've probably either seen the film and hated it, or just got sick to death of people going on about it, but wait! There's something you should know about it. It's many threads woven together, and one of the most important threads is of L'Omosessuale, written completely out of the film. It begins with the eponymous L'Omosessuale, Carlo, having joined the army to try and find a man to worship and ends when...well, I won't ruin that. Apart from the fact it's an amazingly funny and heartbreaking book, the gay part of it is really inspiring, particularly for those of us who are closeted or have self-destructive feelings. His other books feature wars started by genital exposure and half the cast seem to be twelve year old prostitutes-I can't reccommend him enough! And I can't remember how to spell reccommend! One c or two?

Published thru 'Diva Press', i was quite surprised at this book. If you are looking for lots of hot action and very little else then this is theperfect book for you. It has a kinda plot but the sexual exploits of the main charachter divert your attention from it..lol.

  All in all a good book but not a ground breaking novel. Perfect when you are after a nice hot book to keep you warm on those lonely nights ...enjoy!

This is a political/comedy book, written to expose some of America(and the world)'s hypocrisy and general bad-eggness. So I'll quickly say it's funny and enraging in equal measures, but the main point of interest here is chapter 29-'Harassing Gays for Extra Credit', a story which deserves to be told.

Topeka West High School, Kansas believes in care in the community, so its pupils leave early every day to help out in the town for better grades. Fair enough.

Sam Phelps is the grandson of a preacher. For his grades, he carries a picket sign reading 'Death to Fags' at AIDS victims funerals. Topeka West didn't approve so they informed Sam that he'd recieve no extra credit. Fair enough, if a little slack.

Sam's grandfather is running for the US senate from Kansas didn't like that. The school district became afraid he would sue them. The mayor of Topeka gave Sam his own community service award, and the school backed down and allowed him to recieve hs credit, although only if he put it down as babysitting. That's it. No complaints, the story ends there.

The book as a whole is centred on businesses ruining their employees, explaining how lack of jobs is blamed on immigrants but is clearly not, how women still get paid 20% less than men, how to mail all your rubbish to California (and why you ought to) and other strange things.

Both these books are excellent,i recommend you read both,Taz i love k.v. forrests books glad to see someone else does,i recommend those too all of them in fact.....luvly....

Here's an odd one. It starts with a woman telling the story of how she ended up murdering her daughter's fiance. We're then taken right back, towhen her old school chum (a tennis-star-turned-sports-presenter) arrives back in her home town with her lesbian lover. Cue middle-aged revelations about trying to fit in being a little emotionally restricting, a genuinely horrific cautionary tale about homophobia, and some wicked humour. In an excellent touch, although written by a lesbian, the main character actually finds same sex relationships slightly uncomfortable, underlining the the point 'people are afraid of what they don't know about' be it the future, disabled people, religions, whatever. (Just don't read the word 'afraid' too literally, fear can show up as hate...i don't want to be told off for defending homophobes, they can do that themselves)

Strange french lesbian comedy. A bored housewife is angry that her husband is a low life. A lesbian trucker (played by the director, I wonder why she chose to do that? Oh, because she could direct herself into the arms of the lovely Victoria Abril) breaks down outside their home, and within hours ends up with the wife. Husband gets upset and threatens to sleep with a goat for some reason, but they eventually decide to live as a trio. Some manipulation later, and the whole thing frankly goes all over the place.

It's splendidly implausible, daft and entertaining. It also manages to get more interesting as the silliness drains out of it. I recommend you try to see it whatever your sexuality, because it's funny and cute, but I couldn't predct whether you'd love it or loathe it.

this book is quite b ig but i sat and read it in 3 days-i was simply hooked if your into dan brown you will loove this. the suspence is often unbearable but worth it in the end- had me hooked from the first page.

Having read most of the 'Tales of the City' set - and not in the right order I hasten to add, I couldn't wait for this last book by Maupin to come out (excuse the pun!).

The book was a really easy one to get through.  I sailed through in about 5 days which is good going for me! 

It concentrates on the main star of the 'Tales' series - Michael, and catches up with his life since the books ended back in the 80's.  Having got through near death experiences following contracting AIDS his life is one big wish -  to stay alive another day.  He has found a new partner and gets to finally make amends with his family - all bit it with many twists and turns.

I laughed out loud a few times at the wit of the author and the culture which can only be found in gay circles!

A must read for anyone who enjoyed 'Tales of the City' and anyone who hasn't - a start to a really good reading series.

A Must Read for any Stephen Fry fan. I devoured this book in a matter of days and laughed, cried and had a real emotional rollercoater as i readit. It is so well written you could be sat in a room with Stephen himself it really is as if he is talking to you directly.

All I can say is read it!
